Cardinals Have an Edge for Game 1
If you've been following the Cardinals closely, you'll know perhaps no pitcher has been hotter since the All-Star break since right-handed hurler Jack Flaherty.
Proudly posting a 10-8 record and a 3.05 ERA, Flaherty has been embarrassing players at the plate this season. He enters his start on Thursday with 206 strikeouts to his name.
With Flaherty on the hill, we'll look for him to quiet not only the Cubs' batters, but also the fans on hand at Wrigley Field. Cards should come out on top of this one.
Can the Cubs Get to Wacha Early on?
Come Friday, Cubs stars incluing Kris Bryant, Javy Baez, Kyle Schwarber, Nicholas Castellanos and others will look to take down Michael Wacha.
The STL starter sure has had his issues this year, as he enters Friday's tilt with a 6-7 record and 4.76 ERA. Those are not the numbers that instill confidence in your hurler getting the job done.
So, will the Cubs be able to rattle him early on at Wrigley and tack on plenty of runs?
It's looking that way, so we're picking the Cubs to win and cover the spread at the same time.
Dakota Hudson Gets the Call for St. Louis on Saturday
While we're expecting the Cubs to win Game 2 of this series, Game 3 sure looks like it's going to be a different story.
That's because Dakota Hudson and his 3.35 ERA will take the mound for St. Louis on Saturday.
Similar to Flaherty, Hudson has been consistently solid for the Cards this season. We think that trend will continue against the Cubs this weekend.
Cubs Close Out Four-Game Series With a Win
Come Sunday afternoon, the Cards and Cubs will wrap up their four-game series. Who has the advantage?
Well, while the pitching matchups are yet to be announced, we're going to give the edge to the home team Cubs.
Chicago could end up missing the postseason if they don't string out some clutch wins. After an early departure last year, the heat is on for this team to deliver. Will they?
Come Sunday, we think they will with a victory over St. Louis.
