What are the Raptors odds to win the NBA title
For the first time in history, the Toronto Raptors, Drake and the whole Canada punched their ticket to the NBA Finals. Who in the world thought this would be the case entering the season?
Many outside of Toronto figured it’d be either the 76ers or Bucks who would go on to face the Golden State Warriors for the title. The Raptors went ahead and took both those teams down to set up their date with Golden State and came out on top in the end, capturing the first championship in franchise history.
The Raptors’ big upset of Milwaukee continues to be a bit of a stunner. Entering the Eastern Conference Finals, the Torontos Raptors’ odds to take down the Bucks was at 2.40. Milwaukee’s odds were 1.33.
Yet, that didn’t stop Kawhi Leonard from continuing his outstanding play and powering his team to the Finals in his first season North of the border. After winning a title with the San Antonio Spurs, Leonard was able to do the same with Toronto.
The betting odds for the Raptors to win the 2019 NBA Finals stood at 2.87 entering Game 1, while the Warriors were 1.36. As you can see, Las Vegas didn't give Toronto much of a chance to upset Golden State, however, the Raptors were able to close this one out in Game 6.
What the Raptors do having going for themselves is they’re Game 1 favorites. Per Sportsinteraction.com, the Raptors odds to open the series with a win are at 1.87. What’s this? Golden State is a 1-point underdog in Game 1? Though it seems crazy, Toronto has been outstanding at home during the playoffs, making the Scotiabank Arena one of the toughest places to play for a road team in the entire league.
After winning four straight games against the powerful Bucks as well, Toronto is clearly playing its best basketball of the season and the unit’s confidence couldn’t be higher.
With Leonard averaging his 31.2 points per game in the playoffs, he’ll be looking for the teammates around him to bring their A-game as well, which of course will be needed.
The emergence of forward Pascal Siakam has been a welcoming sight for Raptors fans everywhere. The 6-9, 230-pounder enters the NBA Finals second on the team with 18.7 points per game. He’s adding seven rebounds.
The big question Toronto has on their minds? Which Kyle Lowry will show up in the NBA Finals? The point guard has averaged 14.7 points and 6.4 assists in the playoffs, which is down from his 8.7 assists during the regular season.
He’s faced a bit of criticism for down play, but there’s no arguing he’s a key component for the Raptors in the NBA Finals. Will he be able to step up his game and help Toronto battle with Golden State each night? He better be.
For the Raptors as a whole, they’ll have to fire on all cylinders if they want to bring home the Larry O’Brien trophy. Being favorites for Game 1 is an ego booster, and starting off the series with a win would undoubtedly show the team the Warriors aren’t unbeatable opponents. Should they come out with an early victory, the Finals could end up being more even than many of us imagined.
Round 3 - Conference Finals
Toronto Raptors vs Milwaukee Bucks
And there there were two teams left out East. As we enter the 2019 Eastern Conference Finals, both the Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors are both hungry to reach the NBA Finals. For Toronto, they've never made it to the championship series, while the Bucks haven't been to the Finals since 1974.
The two teams will face off in a best-of-seven series, with the Bucks holding home-court advantage throughout. Should things go a full seven games, the last contest of the series will be played on Monday, May 27. After Milwaukee took down Boston with ease in the Eastern Conference semifinals, they're heavy favorites at -300. The Toronto Raptors odds are at +240, making them an intriguing bet as underdogs.
Kawhi Leonard and the Raptors will look to reach the NBA Finals for the first time in the franchise's history
Unfortunately for the betting odds of the Raptors and fans' picks, Milwaukee dominated the regular-season battles between the two teams. In the four games they faced off, the Bucks took home three victories, while the Raptors only had one. Obviously, Toronto will need to make adjustments on both ends of the floor to upset the No. 1 seed.
With only four teams remaining in the hunt to take home the Larry O'Brien Trophy in June, the Golden State Warriors are the clear-cut favorites to win it all. Should the Warriors raise the trophy once again, it'll mark their four championship in five years and third straight.
Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin durant and the rest of Golden State are listed at -140. The Raptors odds to win the NBA Finals aren't favorable for the team up North, as oddsmakers have them at +800. Only the Portland Trail Blazers have worse odds at +1300.
While Golden State is largely expected to represent the Western Conference in the NBA Finals, the Raptors must first worry about the Bucks. Milwaukee is led by MVP candiate Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is averaging a ridiculous 27.4 points and 11.3 rebounds per game this postseason. Down in the blocks, Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol will have their hands full trying to contain him.
In addition to Antetokounmpo, both Khris Middleton and Eric Bledsoe have been consistent during the playoffs, pouring in 19.1 points and 16 points per game, respectively. On Toronto's side, Kawhi Leonard has been the heart and soul of the team with his 31.8 points per contest. He'll need to continue playing his absolute best if Toronto has a shot at moving on.
Round 2 - Division Finals
Toronto Raptors vs Philadelphia 76ers
Perhaps no series this NBA postseason was more heartstopping than the faceoff between the Toronto Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers. Evenly matched throughout, the two franchises didn't let fans across the world down with a memorable seven-game affair.
In the finals seconds of Game 7, Kawhi Leonard had the ball in his hands and everyone knew he was going to be taking the final shot. Barely managing to get a shot over the outstreched hands of 76ers' superstar Joel Embiid, Leonard fired off a deep jumper which somehow found the bottom of the cotton as time expired, sending the Toronto faithful into a frenzy. The unforgettable shot gave the home team a thrilling 92-90 win and a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals.
The Toronto Raptors betting odds heading into the series were listed at -300, while the 76ers were +240. For Game 7, Toronto held the upper hand, entering the final showdown as 1.5-point favorites. With Leonard's shot giving the Raptors the two-point victory, it resulted in sheer jubilation for those who took them with the spread.
Round 1 - Division Semifinals
Toronto Raptors vs Philadelphia 76ers
The Raptors were massive favorites against the No. 7 Orlando Magic in the first round of the playoffs. Raptors betting odds had them at a head-turning -1400, with the Magic at +800. Toronto proved those odds weren't a fluke, as they ended Orlando's season in Game 5 with a convincing 115-96 victory.
In that win, Kawhi Leonard finished the night with 27 points. Fellow stud Paskal Siakim added 24 points, six rebounds and four assists. Toronto truly had no problems taking down Orlando.
The Raptors opened their postseason run with a convincing showing against the Orlando Magic, needing only five games to send them home packing"
Toronto Raptors' Regular Season 2018-19
In Kawhi Leonard's first season with the Toronto Raptors, the team looked sensational from start to finish. The Raptors finished the regular season with a 58-24 record, only two games back of the No. 1 seed Milwaukee Bucks (60-22). And while they themselves nearly posted 60 wins, it's safe to say the team fooled plenty of oddsmakers in the process.
Raptors betting odds weren't favorable back in the fall. Before Game 1 of the regular season tipped off, Toronto's odds to win the NBA Finals were +1400 and their chances to win the Eastern Conference title was +350.
