Starting at the end of the Super Bowl until April, the NFL action in Las Vegas is concentrated on the football draft. It is the perfect setting for a celebration of one of the NFL’s staple events. Anyway, meanwhile, the NFL betting odds are also available and you can bet on the games and the futures of the next season.

How were the expectations for the NFL Draft 2024?

The 86th annual NFL draft was going to be a combination of the old: 255 of college football’s finest players are selected over seven rounds, and the new: each selection was made in Cleveland, Ohio.

The Jacksonville Jaguars picked first while the Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings held the most picks with 11.

Keep an eye out for these bluechip prospects. NFL draft betting odds will have several of them as potential first overall picks and they are unlikely to go beyond the top-ten.

The consensus first-overall pick took 2019 by the horns earning himself a Heisman Trophy and a National Championship final MVP for leading LSU to a title. Not even the Bungles can be dysfunctional enough to pass on him although stranger things have happened!

He was the consensus top quarterback until a devastating injury all but derailed his hopes of becoming the top pick. Still, reports indicate he is making great progress with his recovery and he is still a bluechip prospect. Expect a team like the Dolphins or the Chargers to make a play for him.

Young is the best prospect in this draft and will surely be the first player chosen by a team that doesn’t need a quarterback. The OSU product is 6’5″, 265 lbs. had a dominant 2019 and collected a glut of awards. Edge rushers are the superstars of the defence and Young has the makings of being the next big thing.

Overshadowed by his more prestigious Buckeye teammate, Okudah is still a top prospect and could be the best player on the secondary for an anemic defensive team like the Redskins or Cardinals. Okudah is rangy and big for a corner and checks everything off the list. He’ll also be a star in his position.

NFL Draft Prop Bets: what’s hot?

The NFL draft odds usually feature which player gets picked first and/or what position and that can be a bit boring sometimes, so enter the NFL draft prop bets: an exotic collection of other zany NFL draft betting odds.

NFL prop bets can be tricky to find but books like William Hill have been known to feature prop bets.

This prop is straightforward and asks which player gets taken in what round. The first is a given, but this can go down through second and third but rarely past these.

A team-specific prop is centred on what and who a team drafts. It may include all the teams but is usually limited to the teams with the highest picks. Think of it as a pick-specific prop but for a particular team.

You’ll also find more player-specific prop bets, particularly on the big names in the draft. For the 2020 NFL draft, that will likely be Joe Burrows and Tua Tagovailoa. Props include which teams will draft them when they will be drafted, and an over/under total of when they will be drafted.

More over/under totals can be found such as how many players will be drafted from a specific position. The positions are usually the high-profile ones like quarterback and running back but can extend to any position depending on the bookmaker.

How to make some profit with the NFL Draft bets?

Skip the Top Choice

Predicting the NFL draft is a tall task and NFL draft betting is an even taller affair. Making profit with NFL draft bets can be a challenge, especially going past the obvious top choice (which will be juiced and yield little return on investment).

You can compare sportsbooks by visiting each one and listing their odds. It can be an arduous process, but an alternative is to look through Canada Sports Betting to find the NFL betting sites’ trends. This can translate to how they tackle their NFL draft betting odds.
