The MLB 2022 draft may be rescheduled, but that doesn't stop the betting experts at CanadaSportsBetting from bringing you free MLB picks on the best of this weekend's action.
But, before we move on to our free MLB picks, let's take a look at the latest betting in this season's world series.
2022 World Series Betting
In the NL West, the LA Dodgers are still struggling to shake off the attention they are receiving from the Padres. While in the NL East, and AL East the two New York sides continue to impress. Particularly the Mets
The betting favorite to win the 2022 World Series is still the LA Dodgers at 4.07 with Sports Interaction. The best MLB betting oddsmakers have had Dave Roberts’ team in the position of favorites all season now.
|2022 MLB World Series; Winner Betting||Sports Interaction||Bet99|
|New York Yankees||5.31||5.00|
|New York Mets||6.31||6.50|
|Chicago White Sox||11.44||12.00|
|Toronto Blue Jays||13.38||13.00|
|Tampa Bay Rays||14.59||15.00|
|San Diego Padres||15.80||18.00|
|Boston Red Sox||20.90||18.00|
|San Francisco Giants||22.46||21.00|
|St Louis Cardinals||27.15||25.00|
Although the odds of the Dodgers winning the World Series have shortened throughout the season, they haven't as yet been able to shake off the attention of the two New York teams.
The New York Yankees are not far behind LA at 5.31. The Mets at 6.31. The odds on both the Yankees and the Mets have shortened more than those of the Yankees, suggesting it's the two New York teams who are performing above expectations so far this year.
Guardians @ Orioles
The first match I'm looking at this weekend is the Baltimore Orioles at home to the Cleveland Guardians.
- Match; Baltimore Orioles v Cleveland Guardians
- Where; Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Baltimore
- When; Friday, June 3rd, 2022
- Time; 7.05 pm ET
We all know the Orioles struggle. In betting to make the playoffs, they are 1.01 no, and 13.87 yes. No one gives them a chance!
This is because the Orioles currently sit bottom of the AL East, and just recently have lost 10-0 to both the Red Sox and the Mariners (who are hardly a side riding high).
Orioles to get Opening Pick in Draft
As the worst-performing team, the Orioles will have the first pick in the upcoming MLB Draft - when it eventually takes place!
The 2022 draft is taking place in Los Angeles, the dates are July 17th-19th. The way it works is Major League Baseball teams can pick up the best guys playing amateur baseball in the NCAA.
The team with the first pick this year is the Baltimore Orioles. In one way, it's great to go first. But in another way, it means you've badly underperformed the previous season, and it's a bit of an ignominious honor.
Either way, the 'privilege' this year falls to the Orioles….. and the way they've been performing, it's not hard to see why.
Looking at the match from the perspective of the Guardians, they are not having the greatest season, sitting mid-table in the AL Central.
In the betting odds to reach the playoffs, Terry Francona's team is 1.10 to not make it, and 6.13 to extend their season.
Smart money suggests it won't happen. But it's still difficult to not see them defeating the Orioles though.
I'm taking Cleveland to win on the Handicap line.

Angels @ Yankees
Next up we're taking a look at the Yankees, who are entertaining the Los Angeles Angels at the Yankee Stadium.
- Match; New York Yankees v Los Angeles Angels
- Where; Yankee Stadium, New York City
- When; Friday, June 3rd, 2022
- Time; 7.05 pm ET
The Angels are having a decent season. They sit second in the AL West. They're a fair distance behind division leaders, the Astros, but they also have a solid lead over third place, Texas Rangers.
In the latest betting to make the playoffs, they are 1.54 yes, and 2.38 no. So the top Canadian sportsbooks are giving them a decent chance.
In the same betting market, Friday's opponents, the New York Yankees are 1.02, yes, to make the playoffs, and 11.62, no, to make the playoffs. So there is some difference in the odds there.
Angels Not Quite Firing
A quick look at the first of the trilogy of matches between these two might explain why. It's fair to say things didn't go well for the Angels, the Yankees won that 9-1 at the Yankees Stadium.
The Angels have been involved in some high-scoring matches of late.
I'm not expecting a result like the 11-10 defeat they suffered at home to the Blue Jays last weekend, but there have been 8 or more home runs scored in the vast majority of their last 10 to 15 matches, so I'm going for over 8.5 home runs in the over/under market.
I'm also going to go for the Yankees to win on the Run Line.
I think they're okay odds on the Moneyline, but winning by 1.5 runs or more gives us a significant increase in odds, and I'm happy to go with that instead.
