Rest Notes: The league returns from the better part of a week without action, and the first teams to clock out of January make their returns to kick us off. Colorado is the most rested of this group, but when we’re getting into eight days versus nine, how much does it really matter?

NHL Games on Tuesday, Feb. 6

Rest Notes: The Avs will give us our first test for this week, as to whether or not it’s better to have an extended rest or no rest! Road back-to-backs are always difficult, though going from MSG to New Jersey is a little easier.

Rest Notes: Dallas-Toronto gives us our first game in normal-ish terms, though the Stars are playing the second half of a road back-to-back here. Like Colorado, it’s a short commute, going from Buffalo to Toronto.

NHL Games on Thursday, Feb. 8

RestAway TeamTimeHome TeamRest
1Vancouver Canucks7:00 PMBoston Bruins1
1Washington Capitals7:00 PMFlorida Panthers1

Rest Notes: At this stage, most of the league has gotten back into a groove, with just a few holdouts still coming back from vacation. Tampa has the worst break with a back-to-back against the Islanders’ two days of rest. Colorado is playing their third game in four nights. Arizona awakens from its slumber.

NHL Games on Friday, Feb. 9

RestAway TeamTimeHome TeamRest
2Pittsburgh Penguins8:00 PMMinnesota Wild1
1New York Rangers8:30 PMChicago Blackhawks1
2Edmonton Oilers10:00 PMAnaheim Ducks8

Rest Notes: The Ducks are the only team that won’t have a post-all-star game under their belt on this list. If the Edmonton Oilers get their 17th win on Tuesday, that mismatch might look extra spicy. Pittsburgh has a slight advantage over Minnesota.

NHL Games on Saturday, Feb. 10

RestAway TeamTimeHome TeamRest

Rest Notes: Finally, the rest of the league wraps up their byes and returns to the ice. Outside of the obvious vacation vs. regular rest matchups, there aren’t many significant differences here. Pittsburgh and Edmonton each play their second of a back-to-back, Tampa plays their third in four nights, and Colorado plays their fourth in six.

NHL Games on Sunday, Feb. 11

Rest Notes: Finally, a day without any vacation-returners… and it’s all back-to-back. From over-rested to no rest, I suppose! True normalcy returns next week.
