NHL Free Picks & Predictions: St. Louis Blues @ Ottawa Senators

NHL Free Picks & Predictions: St. Louis Blues @ Ottawa Senators

A few safer bets for you in this evening’s NHL Picks, as we see St. Louis Blues back on the road, this time to the Canadian Tire Centre to face off against the Ottawa Senators.

After letting their first game of the season slip away from them, the Blues have won their last two. A young Senators side are still searching for their first win.

But will they be enough to take down the reigning Stanley Cup holders?

St. Louis Blues (1.44) vs Ottawa Senators (2.70)

St. Louis have made a good start to their road trip through Canada with a 3-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. They will look to complete a second away win on the bounce tonight.

With an impressive preseason taking 4 wins in 7 and going 2-0-1 since the season began.

It hasn’t been so positive for the Senators, who have struggled to get going.

They lost their opening game, at home, to the Maple Leafs and then squared off against the Rangers in Madison Square Gardens, where they were handed their second loss in as many games.

Expect to see St. Louis take the win.

Reliable Binnington for the Blues, first goal to St. Louis (1.61)

St. Louis have conceded just 7 in the last 3. The Canadian netminder Jordan Binnington played a solid game against the Maple Leafs, turning away 32 of 34 shots.

Going forward St. Louis have a handful of players on 2 goals and expect to see them linking up again tonight.

The Senators have been less solid in defense conceding 9 in their first 2 games.

The Senators are a youthful side who will certainly be out to get their first win of the season, but it could be too much to ask against Binnington and the Stanley Cup holders.

Save it til’ the third, the highest scoring period is the third (2.50)

We all know what this Blues team is capable of and having made a decent start to the season, they will certainly be looking to make this two away wins on the trot.

It’s a different story for the Senators, with coach D. J. Smith recently reiterating that the team are in a building process and there will be ups and downs along the way.

Both teams will be eager to get out on the ice tonight and we can see both sides battling it out until the end.

Expect the highest scoring period in the third.

Expect goals tonight, over 5.5 Inc. OT (1.75)

Strangely, the first three games the Blues have played this season have ended with a 3-2 scoreline.

This doesn’t bode well with the wager, but I fancy their frontline to punish this Ottawa team and light up the homeside’s goal.

The Senators will look to their star youngster Matthew Tkachuk, who netted 22 goals over the 2018-19 NHL season.

Tkachuk has progressed very well in his NHL career so far and with Thomas Chabot racking up assists, we may see these two linking up to effect tonight.

Expect goals tonight and go with over 5.5.
