Tampa Bay Lightning (1.71) vs Pittsburgh Penguins (3.35)
The Penguins come into this one with a record of 6-4-0, but are sitting on back-to-back losses to Knights and the Panthers. Though the Penguins have a tonne of offensive power on their roster – will things come together against the Bolts?
Tampa Bay have had a mixed season, but as it stands they are on 4-3-1. They went up against the league leaders, the Avalanche, in their last and took a 6-2 pasting.
In the side’s last two meetings, the Lightning took two of the last three meetings between these teams a year ago. This, coupled with the fact they have the homeside advantage, should give them enough to grab a win.
Take Tampa Bay Lightning to win.
The captain to find the net again, Steven Stamkos anytime scorer (2.00)
The Tampa Bay captain hasn’t scored in the last two games, but is long overdue a goal-scoring performance.
He still stands as the top goal scorer for the Lightning, which sets a bad president for the team’s overall performance so far in the 2019/20 campaign.
Coach Jon Cooper will be well aware of the Penguins poor recent performances and will want to use his offensive power to punish them. The captain will be looked to on the ice and will hopefully add more goals to his tally.
Take Stamkos to bounce back from a lull in goals and score anytime.
“[Cooper] is giving me a little bit more of a role this year, a little bit more confidence. For sure, I appreciate that.”— Tampa Bay Lightning (@TBLightning) October 22, 2019

Homeside to set the tone of the game, Tampa Bay Lightning to win first period (2.25)
Their last home game was the first after a 6 game road trip. It was also against the league leader’s the Colorado Avalanche, so it was expected.
Now they’ve managed to settle and reorganise, they should be raring to go coming into their second home game on the trot. They’ll be aware of how they can punish this Pittsburgh side and should look to play to that tune early on.
The NHL betting odds are great on this wager, definitely worth a punt if you’re backing the Lightning.
Take Tampa Bay Lightning to win the first period.
Parlay Play: Tampa Bay Lightning to win & game over 6.5 Inc. OT (3.38)
The Penguins have an array of firepower in their team, but they haven’t utilised it of late. In their last two games, they’ve only managed to score 2 goals. However, they had an average of 5.25gpg in their previous four.
So there is little doubt over the Penguins ability, but the performances lead you to think something is awry.
It’s quite a different story for the Bolts. They’ve managed to light the lamp 22 times in their last 5 games, which is quite astonishing. They must not be deterred from playing confident, free-flowing hockey after the loss, but look to push on and find their form again.
The penguins are by no means weak in defence, but they will have to shape things up if they are to keep Tampa Bay out. Both teams will want to return to scoring ways tonight and will likely setup to do so, which makes this our favourite NHL Free Pick for this one.
Expect Tampa Bay’s offensive power to show and win by over 6.5.
