NHL Free Picks: New York Rangers @ Boston Bruins
Thursday night hockey takes us to TD Garden for the NHL free pick of the day, between the Boston Bruins and the New York Rangers.
The Bruins are looking for a sixth straight win in this one, while the Rangers are on for a fourth consecutive victory.
Can the Rangers snap the Bruins win streak?

- 01New York Rangers (3.05) vs Boston Bruins (1.39)
- 02Parlay Pick: Boston Bruins to win & over 6.0 total (3.28)
- 03Parlay Pick: Boston to win & take the first period (3.39)
New York Rangers (3.05) vs Boston Bruins (1.39)
The Bruins have been in fine form so far for the 2019/20 campaign. They are joint top of the league alongside the Washington Capitals and top of the NHL power rankings.
They lost out to the Capitals in their matchup last week, in a game that ended 3-2 in a Shootout victory for Washington.
They’re led by David Pastrňák, who sits on 23 goals and 16 assists for the season outright. He’s been in fine form of late, scoring a hatrick in an 8-1 romp of the Montreal Canadiens.
The Rangers also beat the Canadiens last week, 6-5, as well as picking up wins over the Wild and Hurricanes. They sit at 12-9-2 for the season overall.
Expect a Bruins win at TD Garden.
Parlay Pick: Boston Bruins to win & over 6.0 total (3.28)
Boston lead the scoring in the NHL scoring tables in terms of individual players. We mentioned David Pastrňák before, but he’s not alone for Boston and is closely tailed by Brad Merchand on 18 goals and 25 assists.
The NHL betting odds favour a Bruins win and the bookmakers provide a solid spread on over/under bets.
Boston are joint at the top of the NHL stats tables as they are managing 3.7 goals per game, alongside Tampa Bay. While New York are averaging 3.3 goals per game.
However, it’s in defense where the stats tell the story. Boston claim the second best defense in the league, allowing an average of just 2.24 per game. Whereas New York are allowing 3.26 per game.
The smart money says Boston win and the game goes over 6.0 total.
Parlay Pick: Boston to win & take the first period (3.39)
Boston will have the edge in this one, due to the fact that both teams play with an attacking style and the Bruins beat them offensively and defensively.
We can see Bruce Cassidy’s men coming out firing as they’ll want to get a grip of the game. Though it won’t be an easy, as New York are in excellent form and have great attacking threat of their own.
The New York Rangers top-scorer for the season is Artemi Panarin, who sits at 12 goals and 20 assists for the season.
He’s been instrumental in attack and has raised the game of the players around him.
The likes of Anthony DeAngelo (7goals, 11 assists), Ryan Strome (6 goals, 16 assists) and Chris Keider (7 goals, 2 assists) have all put up scores for the Rangers this season.
We can see both teams hungry for a victory here, but the Bruins are just too strong in every phase.
Take the Bruins to win outright and the first period.
