NHL Free Picks & Predictions: Colorado Avalanche @ Edmonton Oilers

NHL Free Picks & Predictions: Colorado Avalanche @ Edmonton Oilers

Rogers Place Edmonton is the venue for our Thursday night matchup, where the Oilers will be hosting the Colorado Avalanche.

The Avalanche will be on the road looking to make this their fourth win from four, while the Oilers enter this game having lost 6-3 to the Sharks.

Will it be four wins in 4 for the Avalanche?

Colorado Avalanche (2.85) vs Edmonton Oilers (2.18)

We felt we had to go against the bookmakers on this one, NHL betting odds favoured an Oilers victory but we don’t see that tonight.

The Avalanche are just behind St. Louis Blues in the Central Division in second place. They’ve been playing some dynamic offense hockey and will look to extend their current run of form at Rogers Place.

Colorado sit at 11-5-2 outright. They’ll have Adam Werner guarding the crease against the Oilers. He’s had limited playing time this season, with a record of 1-0-0 overall and a save percentage of .915%.

In between the pipes at the other end will be Mike Smith, who’s 5-5-1 for the season so far. He’s got a 2.58 GAA and a .915% save percentage. Generally Smith has performed well this campaign.

This will be a tight game. Aside from the loss in their last the Oilers have been excellent, sitting on 12-6-2 outright. It will be the small margins that edge the tie, one way or another.

Take Colorado to win in Edmonton.

Parlay Pick: Avalanche to win & total over 6.5 (5.10)

Both these teams have been playing really well this season. The Avalanche, who are 7th in the NHL power rankings, come into this game with a great deal of momentum.

Since losing out to the Dallas Stars 4-1, they’ve flipped the playbook and started putting in some title-contending performances.

They blitzed the Preds 9-4 a few games back and took a comprehensive 4-0 win over the Winnipeg Jets.

They’ve enjoyed the season so far, playing excellently in offense. They’ve managed to score at least 4 in each of their last three games, winning all three by at least 2 goals.

The Oilers were beaten by a revitalized Sharks team, who are now 4 wins in their last four. However, we expect Dave Tippetts’ men to relight their offense and go at the Avalanche.

Expect the Avalanche to win & total over 6.5 goals.

Avalanche to flood them early, away team score first & win (3.80)

Colorado have been going for it in the last few games. In fact, over the last seven games they’ve managed to score 1 or more goals in the first period.

Edmonton has an excellent home record this season with a record of 6-2-1. But their defense was tested against the Sharks in the last and it couldn’t withstand the San Jose attack.

The Oilers will be looking to the usual names and faces tonight. They’ve got one of the hottest offensive units in the league right now. The likes of Neal, Draisaitl and McDavid, among many others must be handled, if the visitors are to win.

We thought we’d give you this as an NHL free pick, because we feel the loss to the Sharks will have had an effect the Oilers confidence. Moreover, the Avalanche coach Jared Bednar will keep his team focused and get the result on the road.

Take the Avalanche to score first and win.
