The Bruins, Capitals, Blues and a resurgent Canucks lead their respective leagues as we enter the final week of January.
The Bruins are back in action on Wednesday as they host the Vegas Golden Knights at TD Garden. The NHL games only run up till Thursday, because we have the NHL All-star games over the weekend.
Will the Golden Knights overcome the Atlantic leaders?
Minnesota Wild (2.50) @ Florida Panthers (2.42)
The Minnesota Wild sit at the bottom of the Central Division but will head to the BB&T Center looking to secure a third straight win. More importantly, the Wild took the points off Tampa Bay and the Stars, which ended in a 7-0 shutout.
Zach Parise has scored two goals in his last two games and is second in scoring for the Wild. They will turn to the left-winger again to provide in this one. He’s got 18 goals and 12 assists for the season outright.
They have had a great week, winning their last four games on the bounce and beating teams such as the Canucks and Maple Leafs. Their recent success puts them at 9th in the NHL power rankings and 26-15-5 for the campaign.
Dadonov Evgenil continues to lead the line for Minnesota, putting up 21 goals and 17 assists for the season and also scoring in his last two games.
Take the Panthers to beat Minnesota.

Vegas Golden Knights (3.07) @ Boston Bruins (2.03)
The Bruins took the win against the New York Islanders last Sunday, before losing to the Flyers, Blue Jackets and the Penguins. The one positive from the week the win over the Penguins in the first of the head-to-head series.
David Pastrnak picked up a goal and an assist in their loss to Pittsburgh. He has been magnificent throughout the season and is the league's top scorer, with 37 goals and 33 assists for the season.
The Golden Knights have won one in their last six games. The win came against the Sens on Friday night, bringing them to 25-19-7 for the season overall.
Mark Stone picked up a goal and assist in the 4-2 victory, bringing him to 20 goals and 19 assists. While Max Pacioretty picked up an assist, which takes his total contribution to 21 goals and 26 assists this campaign.
The NHL betting odds favour a Bruins win in this one, though both the Golden Knights and the Bruins enter this one having lost their previous games. We tend to agree, given the way Boston has played throughout the season.
Expect the Bruins to win here.
Winnipeg Jets (2.88) @ Columbus Blue Jackets (2.14)
Columbus has been playing with a new lease of life in the past couple of weeks, for this reason, we had to include them in our NHL free picks this week. They’re fourth in the Metropolitan Division, sitting on 26-16-8 overall.
The Blue Jackets lost to the Sharks in the second week of January, but have since gone all out winning every game, including shutout wins against the Golden Knights, Bruins and New Jersey Devils.
It seemed like they were going to lose in their last game against the Rangers, but two goals in the third secured the road win.
Denmark’s Oliver Bjorkstrand scored 2 goals in the victory. He has put up 14 goals and 11 assists for the 2019/20 campaign.
The Jets are 25-20-4 for the season and sit fourth in the Central Division. They are led in offence by Kyle Connor (24 goals, 23 assists) and Mark Scheifele (23 goals, 30 assists), the latter scoring against the Blackhawks in their last game.
Take the Blue Jackets to win at home.
