NHL Free Picks & Predictions: Calgary Flames @ Nashville Predators
We’re in Music City for the Thursday night hockey Western Conference tussle, between the Calgary Flames and the Nashville Predators.
Recent history favours the Flames, who took two of the last three meetings last season, with a 5-2 home victory in the last matchup.
Will the Preds make it 5 on in a row?
- 01Calgary Flames (2.30) vs Nashville Predators (1.64)
- 02Parlay Pick: Nashville Predators to win & score the first goal (3.94)
- 03Rinne and Rittich to lock things down, game goes under 5.5 (2.10)
- 04Bonino to continue scoring, Nick Bonino anytime scorer (4.00)
Calgary Flames (2.30) vs Nashville Predators (1.64)
The Flames have had a bit of a hit and miss type of season so far. They’ve recorded some decent wins but have also slipped up along the way, which has left them with a record of 6-6-2 outright.
The Flames have struggled to put the puck in the back of the net this season, which is reflected in their NHL power ranking falling.
At present, they only have two players on 4 or more goals - Lindholm is on top with 8.
This is the second of three games at the Bridgestone Arena for the Preds, who have enjoyed a positive start to the season.
Nashville are tied for the league lead in goals per game, which is a testament to how well they’ve performed on the ice.
The Preds sit at 8-3-1 outright. Nashville are on for their fifth straight win after overcoming the Blackhawks in their last game.
If they manage the win over the Canadian side, they will move up to joint top spot with the Avalanche.
Take the Nashville Predators to win.
Parlay Pick: Nashville Predators to win & score the first goal (3.94)
The Predator’s forwards are producing this season. Nick Bonino managed to grab himself a perfect hat-trick in their last game, with a goal in every period.
But he’s not the only forward lighting the lamp for the Preds. The likes of Josi Roman, Viktor Arvidsson, Filip Forsberg, and the list goes on.
Calgary don’t really have any shooters that are going to get out on the ice and take the game to the Preds, aside from Lindholm who is really earning his salary at the moment.
We all know what this Calgary team can do and we’ve seen them play their way this season, but the lack of consistency is letting them down.
The NHL betting odds were quite favourable on this Parlay bet, so we thought it would be only fair to share it.
Expect the Preds to win and score first.
Rinne and Rittich to lock things down, game goes under 5.5 (2.10)
Both teams had a Tuesday night game, so they are evenly rested coming into this one at the Bridgestone Arena.
Calgary lost their second straight game in a row on Tuesday and it’s clear things haven’t gone swimmingly so far in the 2019/20 campaign. They do have forwards in Lindholm, Hamonic and Gaudreau who can produce for them.
They also have David Rittich in-between the pipes, who made 26 saves in the loss to the Hurricanes. He’ll be back goaltending for the Flames tonight.
In goal for the Preds is Rinne. He has been phenomenal this season, going 7-0-1 with a 1.74 GGA, a .937 save percentage and two shutouts in his eight starts this campaign.
With these two boys in goal, it’s unlikely this will be a high-scoring affair.
Take the game to stay under 5.5 goals.
Bonino to continue scoring, Nick Bonino anytime scorer (4.00)
Nick Bonino enjoyed Tuesday night against the Hawks. The Predator’s third-line centre bagged himself a hat-trick in a comprehensive performance in Smashville.
Assisted by Rocco Grimaldi, Craig Smith and Dante Fabbro, the Hartford man carried his team to a well-earned victory. And with Pekka Rinne holding things down at the other end, the Preds cruised through the game.
Bonino will be on cloud nine, and when he makes his way onto the ice for this one he’ll fancy himself for another goal - we do too. This will be our last NHL free pick until next week, so make the most of these!
Take Bonino to score anytime.
