NBA Free Picks & Predictions: Cleveland Cavaliers @ Toronto Raptors

We head to the Scotiabank Arena for the last time in 2019, where the Raptors will host the Cleveland Cavaliers in an Eastern Conference clash.

Toronto lost out 98-97 against the Oklahoma City Thunder in their last, after going 1-1 in the head-to-head series against the Boston Celtics. The Cavs have enjoyed a decent spell of late, winning four of their last five games.

Can they cause an upset against the reigning NBA champions?

Cleveland Cavaliers (4.81) vs Toronto Raptors (1.21)

The Toronto Raptors endured a tough contest against the Thunder in their last, with Chris Paul and Canadian Shai Gilgeous-Alexander putting in game-winning performances for their team.

There were still a few positives for Nick Nurse’s team as Lowry continues to produce, alongside the ever consistent Fred VanVleet.

The result puts the Raptors fourth in the East and 22-11 overall. This will be another tough test for the champions, but it will be a test they should relish given that they’ve won four of the last five meetings between these two sides.

The Cavaliers find themselves 12th in the East and looking unlikely to make the playoffs unless they can turn things around.

They will look to Kevin Love (averaging 16.7 ppg) and Collin Sexton (averaging 17.9 ppg) to produce the goods in Toronto, though Cleveland’s recent form has seen a number of players throughout the roster putting up points.

Take the Raptors to win.

Parlay Pick: Raptors to win & over 217.0 total (3.19)

The Raptors lost out to a reinvigorated Oklahoma side in their last, but they’ll be keen to put the Cleveland to the sword in order to avoid losing to the underdogs in back-to-back games.

Toronto look to have lost Pascal Siakam for the foreseeable future, who was their top-contributor, averaging 25.1 points per game, though last Kyle Lowry has come in and filled the role seamlessly.

The Raptors consistency has led them to fourth position in the NBA power rankings, moving above the Clippers, Heat and Rockets.

Though the bookmakers favour a Raptors win, it won’t be an easy win for Toronto. The Cavs go 10-22 for the season overall, with four of those ten wins coming in the past week. Something has clicked for John Beilein’s team.

The NBA betting odds heavily favour the Raptors and given the quality of ball they’ve played since week one, coupled with the fact they’re at home, we tend to agree.

Take the Raptors to win & the game to go over ‘217.0’ total.

Player Pick: Fred VanVleet to hit over 19.5 (2.50)

The Rockford man has been Mr. reliable this season. The Raptors have lent on him time and time again to put up scores, averaging 18.2 points per game overall.

We feel his form deserves our NBA free pick for the Raptors as you can count on VanVleet to produce the goods against the Cavs defense.

The Raptors win over their Eastern Conference rivals the Boston Celtics featured another solid performance from VanVleet, putting up 18 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds.

Another point worth noting about VanVleet is the fact he’s putting in the minutes. He’s been one of the most consistent contributors for Toronto, averaging 36.5 minutes per game and third in the team just behind the injured Siakam and starman Kyle Lowry.

Expect Fred VanVleet to put up over 19.5 total.
