Edmonton Oilers (2.14) vs San Jose Sharks (1.74)
The Sharks have had a bumpy road so far in their 2019/20 campaign. San Jose have to sharpen certain parts of their game, if they’re to take anything from this season.
San Jose are at 7-10-1 for the season outright. Their offense hasn’t been the problem, as they’ve got the best penalty-killing team in the NHL during the power play. However, it’s at the other end where they’ve struggled.
A lack of competent goaltending has cost them. They rank near the bottom of the league in terms of save percentage, which is at .882 for the season.
The Oilers have been in better form in recent games and now sit at 12-5-2 outright. They are now leading the Pacific Division with 26 points and will be keen to retain that spot after tonight’s game.
Expect the Oilers to win this one.
Parlay Pick: Edmonton Oilers to win & win the first period (5.30)
The Oilers offense is best understood through Connor McDavid, who bagged a hatrick against the Anaheim Ducks in their last. Edmonton won the game 6-2, with their star center being the eighth NHL player to record 400 points before their 23rd birthday.
It’s not just Connor who’s been providing for the Canadian side. Draisaitl, Neal, Nugent-Hopkins and Kassian have all contributed in attack and have managed to build a consistent source of goals.
The Sharks leaky defense, coupled with the Oilers offensive firepower could make for a fairly long night for the homeside.
Martin Jones will be guarding the line for the Sharks. He looked pretty useful in his last game, but sits at 5-7-1 outright with a 3.31 GAA.
Take the Oilers to win and take the first period.
Parlay Pick: Oilers to win & over 5.5 (3.40)
The Oilers will look to the 37-year old Canadian goaltender Mike Smith tonight, who’s made an excellent start to the season. He’s made 10 starts and has a record of 5-4-1, with a 2.22 GAA.
San Jose will have Tomas Hertl and top goalscorer Kane Evander in offense tonight. The former has scored for a third straight game for the Sharks. He netted one against the Nashville Predators in their 2-1 victory over the weekend.
It feels like the Sharks are building some momentum in attack and things are starting to gel together properly.
However, their shakey defense is still letting them down and against the Edmonton front three, it won’t stand.
The NHL betting odds favour a homeside victory, but it feels like the Oilers will put an end to the Sharks winning ways.
Take Oilers to win and the game to go over 5.5 goals.
The German to light the lamp, anytime scorer Draisaitl (2.25)
The big German hasn’t gotten a mention for a while, so we thought we’d give him an NHL free pick for the week.
He has been unstoppable this season and leads the league in points, goals, and a number of other columns.
He is averaging 1.8 points per game, which is outrageous. He is on 14 goals, 20 assists and 34 points outright.
Edmonton owe a lot of their attacking prowess to this man. Though Conor has been the showman of late, Draisaitl is still putting in the hard yards and creating goals for his team. He managed another 4 assists against the Ducks.
Take Leon Draisaitl to score anytime.
