NHL Free Picks & Predictions: December 13-15

It’s just two weeks until Christmas, but as we get closer we are rewarded with more sports fixtures.

We have a number of great games for you as we enter the weekend. The Bruins lost out to the Capitals midweek, conceding the league leaders spot to Washington. Both teams will face off against the Lightning over the weekend.

We have action from the Avalanche, Oilers, Islanders, Jets and many more.

Who will take the points this weekend?

New Jersey Devils (4.33) @ Colorado Avalanche (1.62)

We head to the Pepsi Center for this one. The Avalanche have been in the ascendency of late, so much so they now find themselves on top of the Central Division.

Meanwhile the Devils are on a 6-game losing streak and have only managed to take 23 points in their first 30 games. The Devils are 9-16-5 for the season outright.

Colorado has been red-hot recently, putting up 3 goals or more in their last nine games. Colorado will be keen to take care of business early on in this one and send New Jersey packing early on.

The Avalanche are marching up the NHL power rankings at the moment, so much so that they find themselves third the rankings.

Take the Colorado Avalanche to win.

Toronto Maple Leafs (2.18) @ Edmonton Oilers (2.82)

We have a Canadian matchup in this one. The Oilers last game was a real show, they ended up losing the game 6-5 to the Minnesota Wild in what was a high-scoring affair.

A lack of consistency has been a real problem for the Maple Leafs this season. They go 15-14-4 for the season outright, they lost 4-2 to the high-flying Flames in their last.

Auston Matthews is leading the line for the Maples, scoring 19 goals and 15 assists.

Despite the fact the Oilers are looking to snap a 4-game losing streak, they still have the two best players in the league out on the ice every game.

Conor McDavid (20 goals, 37 assists) and Leon Draisaitl (20 goals, 35 assists) are literally carrying this Edmonton side at the moment.

This game will be an epic contest, given the pressure the Oilers are under to get back into the win column and a Maple Leafs side have been a bit hit-and-miss of late too. For these reasons this game is our NHL free pick of the weekend.

Expect the Oilers to bounce back and win in this one.

Buffalo Sabres (3.44) @ New York Islanders (1.92)

The Islanders have been excellent this campaign. They are second in the Metropolitan Division right now just behind the league leaders the Capitals. They are led in attack by Mathew Barzal, who is on 13 goals and 14 assists for the season.

The Sabres also come into this game in great form and are looking to record a fourth win on the trot. Wins over the Oilers, Blues and Predators in their last few games has put them second in the Atlantic Division.

Buffalo are led in attack by Jack Eichel, who is on 22 goals and 24 assists for the season. His productivity on the ice makes him one of the most valuable forwards in the league at the moment.

The Islanders will have the homeside advantage here, but beyond that this one will be quite tight.

The NHL betting odds heavily favour a home win for the Islanders and understandably so, as they look to record a third win on the bounce at the Nassau Coliseum.

Expect the Islanders to cruise through this one.

Philadelphia Flyers (2.77) @ Winnipeg Jets (2.14)

We have an Eastern vs Western Conference matchup for our Sunday night game. Both teams are coming into this one with off the back of a loss.

The Jets are 19-11-2 outright for the season. They lost 5-2 in their last game, in the second of the head-to-head series against the struggling Detroit Red Wings. We expect the Jets to come out early on and try to get in front first.

The Flyers sit fifth in the Metropolitan Division, going 17-9-5 for the season outright. They lost out to the Avalanche 3-1 in their last game. Philadelphia will rely on the likes of Travis Konecny and Oskar Lindblom to grab goals in this one.

Take the Winnipeg Jets to win this game.
