NBA Free Picks & Predictions: LA Clippers @ Golden State Warriors
A return to the league for the Golden State Warriors will have them facing off against a player who handed them a loss at last year’s NBA Finals.
Kawhi Leonard’s and the Clippers looked as good as advertised in game one against the Lakers, even without Paul George.
Will Steph Curry and the Warriors prove they’re the kings of LA?
Lou Will checks out the game to a standing ovation as does Pat beverly, who essentially falls into Doc Rivers chest. After giving everything they had but coming up just short against the Warriors. There were some big changes for Steve Kerr’s team during the offseason. Durant leaving to join the nets has left a void in the team that is yet to be filled.
Also a concern for the Kerr, will be the loss of Thompson to what could be a season long ACL injury.
Arguably one of the greatest teams ever assembled will start their campaign as the underdogs. The NBA betting odds are largely favourable for the visitors.
The Golden State have had a mixed preseason, with 2 wins in 5 - including 2 losses to the Clippers first victim of the season, the LA Lakers. But now it’s time to go up a gear.
The loss of Thompson and Durant will drastically weaken the Warriors defense. But it’s the lack of reliable attacking options they’ll have when Curry is on the bench, which will be more concerning.
It’ll be a tough game for both sides, but Leonard made 30 points in game 1 and we expect more of the same. Take LA Clippers to win.
Clippers defense too good, game to go under 216.5 (2.25)
Paul George, who is still recovering from surgery, recently said his team “are going to be scary” on defense.
A trio of Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Patrick Beverly is a frightening prospect. Here’s a list of accolades they have between them;
- Leonard: 2x NBA Defensive Player of the Year, 3x NBA All-Defensive first team, 2x NBA All-Defensive second team, NBA steals leader.
- George: 2x NBA All-Defensive first team, 2x NBA All-Defensive second team, NBA steals leader.
- Beverly: NBA All-Defensive first team, NBA All-Defensive second team.
This team knows how to play and are willing to dig deep to find results. To quote Doc Rivers from the 2019 season, they were like “cockroaches” they just wouldn’t die.
We will be keeping a close on Doc River’s men this season using our unique NBA power rankings.
Though the Warriors have Curry, there is only so much a point guard can do. If the Clippers did what the Raptors did, and double up on Curry it’ll be tough for him to show his MVP quality we all know he possesses.
Expect the game to stay under 216.5.
Parlay Pick: Golden State Warriors to win first quarter total points under 58 (3.95)
All our NBA free picks for this matchup have favoured the Clippers, and this may be because we’re on the hype train like everyone else. But the 6-time NBA champions will be anything but a pushover for this dynamic Clippers team.
Steph Curry will have to start putting in 20 shots per game, if they are to start are to claim victory, which is well within the boundaries of the greatest shooter in history.
The Warriors also have players like D’Angelo Russel, Draymond Green, Kevon Looney and the potential of Jordan Poole. We can see the Warriors coming out and showing they are still the kings of LA.
Expect Golden State Warriors to win the first period & total points under 58.

Kawhi Leonard cannot be stopped, highest points player total overall (2.65)
Last year, Kawhi Leonard was on Cloud 9. A year passes and he’s battling it out for the pride of LA with the King.
Things have moved quickly, but one thing has stayed the same and that’s Kawhi finding the basket.
We all know what Leonard is capable of and Doc Rivers is the best in the business. Alongside their starman will be the likes of Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell, who help to facilitate the offensive power of Kawhi.
The Los Angeles man was breaking franchise records last season, by making the most 30-point games in a single postseason.
His all-round game is unmatched at this point, things may change as the season progresses but he will cause the Warrior’s all kinds of problems at the STAPLES center.
Take Kawhi Leonard to get the highest points overall.
