NHL Free Picks & Predictions: New York Islanders @ Winnipeg Jets
An interconference matchup in Winnipeg is our pick of the games this evening, this one is geared up to be a great contest.
A game which will require both teams to maintain a tight defence in order to grab the two points. The Jets will need their young attack to find their feet again after some fatigued performances in their last two.
Can the Islanders hand the Jets a third loss on the bounce?
- 01New York Islanders (2.05) vs Winnipeg Jets (1.75)
- 02Jets to edge the Islanders, Jets to win by a margin of 2 (6.50)
- 03Parlay Pick: Jets to Win & Over 5.5 (3.45)
- 04Jets control things early, Jets take the first period and win (3.50)
New York Islanders (2.05) vs Winnipeg Jets (1.75)
The Winnipeg Jets were beaten, in a shocking display against the Coyotes, for the second game in a row on Tuesday. It leaves them at 4-4-0 for the season. The Jets will need to pick themselves up for this one.
The New York Islanders are coming off the back of two great winning displays against the Panthers and the Blues. They won both games 3-2 and now sit at 3-3-0 overall. The Islanders have a solid defense, but just need to tweak their attack to get things to properly click.
The last time these two teams met, the Jets travelled to New York only to lose 4-1. Expect Winnipeg to get their redemption at home and win.
Jets to edge the Islanders, Jets to win by a margin of 2 (6.50)
The Jets have had a busy schedule so far this season and this may have contributed to the disappointing performance they put in the last time these teams met.
They’ve had 5 days at home, so they’ll be fully recovered and hopefully have taken a much needed break from the action. While the Jets have been travelling all over for their games, the Islanders will only be making their second road game in seven.
It’s likely to be a close game, with a seemingly stable New York defence and a ragbag lineup of new defenseman for the Jets. The youthful attack the Jets have will likely outshoot the Islanders.
We feel the game will be won by small margins. The bookies had really tasty odds on this one, certainly our favourite NHL Free Pick of the day.
Odd goal alert🥅🚨.— In The Chel (@inthechelnews) October 13, 2019
Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry lets in a goal just over a minute in against the Winnipeg Jets. Jets F Mathieu Perreault shoots the puck on net from in the left corner and it goes off Pens F Jarred McCann skate and into the net.

Parlay Pick: Jets to Win & Over 5.5 (3.45)
We feel confident about the Jets for this one. They’ve got to prove themselves in front of the home crowd and will be keen to avenge their loss from only a few weeks ago.
The Jets have been solid in attack, boasting 9 different players lighting the lamp so far. Scheifele and Laine have been the stand out attacking players and they’ll be called upon again tonight.
The Jets have been poor defensively conceding 11 in their last two games, so we feel this is likely to be repeated against the Islanders.
The Islanders seem to have turned their play around in the last two, they’ll need to maintain that form to triumph at the Bell MTS Center. They’ll be hoping their defense holds firm for a third straight game.
Take Jets Win in regulation time and game total OVER 5.5 goals.
Jets control things early, Jets take the first period and win (3.50)
We figured this was a decent little wager, as the NHL odds are rather favourable. The Islanders have been victorious of late, but they’ve been out-scored 7-3 in first periods this season. The Jets have actually been worse getting outscored 8-5 in the opening frame.
New York has not lead a game after 20 minutes this season. Winnipeg is 1-3-4 during the opening 20 minutes.
In front of their howm fans, we think this will be a different Jets side to what we’ve seen recently. Re-invigorated and ready to take the game to the visitors from faceoff.
We are betting on the Jets to win first period and the game.
THAT'S ALL SHE WROTE! Make it three losses in a row as the #Blackhawks drop one to the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 in OT thanks to Mark Scheifele's game winner. #WPGvsCHI #NHLFaceoff #HockeyTwitter #HockeyNight pic.twitter.com/XlXlNrc3nJ— ͏Sidney Brown (@sidkid80) October 13, 2019
