NHL Weekend Free Picks: November 8-10
As we come into the weekend we’ve got several of our favourite NHL free picks from all the games through until Sunday, providing you with the best insight on what will go down.
We’ve got all the action, including our first game in Edmonton, as the Oilers host the Devils, while the Florida Panthers travel North to New York to face off against the Rangers, and many more.
Let’s get into this then.
- 01New Jersey Devils (2.35) @ Edmonton Oilers (1.60)
- 02Boston Bruins (1.39) @ Detroit Red Wings (3.10)
- 03Los Angeles Kings (3.55) @ Montreal Canadiens (1.88)
- 04Florida Panthers (2.70) @ New York Rangers (2.33)
New Jersey Devils (2.35) @ Edmonton Oilers (1.60)
The Devils will travel to Rogers Place on Friday for the early evening fixture against the Oilers. The Oilers lost to the current Stanley Cup holders in their last 5-2, which puts them on 10-5-2 overall.
Edmonton have been in the rough for the last couple of games, recording back-to-back losses.
However, the Devils haven’t had a particularly productive season so far, which presents a good opportunity for the Oilers to get back on track.
The Devils have been particularly poor in front of goal, with a Metropolitan Division-low 12 points in 13 games. They sit at 4-6-4 outright for the season. The NHL betting odds favour the Oilers and we tend to agree.
Take the Oilers to win this one at home.
Boston Bruins (1.39) @ Detroit Red Wings (3.10)
We have a pair of Atlantic Division teams taking to the ice to battle it out in Motor City in our Friday night fixture.
The Bruins are off the back of a 5-4 loss to the Canadiens to end a good run of form, putting them at 11-2-2 outright.
Detroit have struggled a lot this season and have only managed to score two or less in 11 of their 17 games this season, which will have to improve if they have any chance of winning. Detroit are 4-12-1 outright.
They’re also facing the number one team in the NHL power rankings and a fluid free-scoring Boston team.
Tuukka Rask, who has enjoyed an excellent season so far, will be goaltending in this one.
Take the Bruins to get back to winning ways.
Los Angeles Kings (3.55) @ Montreal Canadiens (1.88)
Our Saturday night fixture takes us to the Centre Bell, where the Kings will travel to faceoff against the Canadiens.
The Canadiens managed to put a stop to the Bruins almost unstoppable run of form, taking the game 5-4 in the end. But they then lost to Flyers 3-2 in Philly in their next, putting them at 8-5-3 outright.
The Kings have had a tough season. This is their 3rd consecutive game on the road, having lost the first two to the Senators and Maple Leafs, putting them at 5-10-1 overall.
The Canadiens are playing well and we see them being too much to handle for the Kings.
Expect the Canadiens to win this one.
Florida Panthers (2.70) @ New York Rangers (2.33)
Our Sunday afternoon fixture takes us to Madison Square Gardens, where the Panthers will play their second of three games on the road against the Rangers.
The Panthers are 7-3-5 for the season outright. They lost 5-4 in OT to the high-flying Washington Capitals in their last and will face off against the Islanders before this one.
Any momentum they can gain from it would be welcomed.
This will be a fairly even game, as the Rangers have had quite a similar season so far and are at 7-6-1 overall.
The Rangers won their last two matches, against the Hurricanes and Red Wings, and will have had plenty of rest before this one gets underway.
They’ll have veteran goalkeeper Henrik Lundqvist on the ice, who made 45 saves against the Hurricanes.
Take the Rangers to win this one.
