NBA Picks & Predictions: New York Knicks @ Los Angeles Lakers

NBA Picks & Predictions: New York Knicks @ Los Angeles Lakers

Our Tuesday night NBA matchup between the Lakers and the Knicks takes us to the STAPLES Center, as the Lakers look to record a sixth consecutive win.

The Knicks did manage to a three-game win streak over the Christmas period. But it was snapped against the Suns, then they went on to lose 132-135 against the Clippers in their last.

Will it be seven in a row for the Lakers?

New York Knicks (8.00) vs Los Angeles Lakers (1.09)

This is the first time these two have met for the 2019/20 campaign. The Knicks have struggled this season, but looked great in the loss against the Clippers on Sunday. They go 10-26 for the season overall.

New York have been woeful in defense this season, which would normally be a problem but the Lakers have a shockingly-low average of 35.3 shooting percentage from the arc. But we expect the Lakers to reveal the cracks in this Knicks team.

The Lakers are 29-7 for the season and look to be finding that form we saw earlier in the season. Anthony Davis and LeBron will enjoy playing against this Knicks defense, those two getting to the rim will be a regular occurrence in this one.

Although we have to agreed with the bookmakers on this one, we feel the Knicks are in with an outside chance of putting up a performance in this one and for that reason we wanted to include them in our weekly NBA free picks.

Take the Lakers to win at home.

Los Angeles Lakers To beat New York Knicks

Parlay Pick: LA Lakers to win & under 117.5 total (3.01)

The Lakers will have the upper-hand in defense in this one. They stand fourth in the league for efficiency, which puts them in a great standing for playing against a team with very limited offensive capabilities.

This will boost the Lakers confidence given that they will be up against the fourth-worst offense in the league for the season. The NBA betting odds heavily favour a Lakers win and as we’ve discussed, for good reason.

The Lakers have only put up more than 117.5 twice in their last twelve games. Given this, coupled with the fact the Knicks aren’t known to be a high-scoring team, we can see the game staying below 117.5.

The Knicks haven’t exactly been a high-scoring team this season, but of late they have been tallying some decent scores. Although they don’t usually put up high-scores, they only narrowly missed out 132-135 against the Clippers.

Expect the Lakers to win and over 117.5 total.

Los Angeles Lakers To win & over 117.5 total

Los Angeles Lakers to win & be the first to 10 points (2.62)

The Lakers are still on top in the West, they’re win streak has pushed them up to second in the NBA power rankings just behind Giannis’s Bucks.

It’s going to be all about the offensive duo in the form of Anthony Davis (27.7 ppg, with a FG% of .507%) and LeBron James (24.9 ppg, with a FG% of .486%) for Los Angeles. Lately, they have been back to what we saw at the start of the season.

Unbelievably, the Knicks came out firing against the Clippers and scoring 45 in the first period. Lou Williams team are certain Playoff candidates, but they haven’t been that formidable on the court due to their leaky defense.

The Lakers beat the Pistons 106-99 in their last game, putting up a season-high 20 blocks to secure the win. This kind of defensive statistics will worry the very limited offense on offer for the Knicks.

Take the Lakers to win the first period & be the first to 10 points.
