NBA Free Picks & Predictions: Detroit Pistons @ Toronto Raptors
The Raptors are at the Scotiabank Arena for the second home game in a row, as they gear up for an Eastern Conference clash against the Detroit Pistons.
With a near-perfect start to the season, the Raptors are proving the doubters wrong as they come into the week at 6th in the NBA power rankings.
Can the Raptors make it 3 wins from three?
- 01Detroit Pistons (3.90) vs Toronto Raptors (1.31)
- 02Parlay Pick: Raptors to win & over 212 (3.64)
- 03Parlay Pick: Raptors to win & win race to 20 points (2.97)
Detroit Pistons (3.90) vs Toronto Raptors (1.31)
The Raptors have got off on the right foot, despite the fact they didn’t reinforce their roster with another superstar during the offseason.
Instead they put faith in their player development system, which has proven to be a success, and look to be favourites to win the Eastern Conference. The likes of Pascal Siakam, Fred VanVleet and Kyle Lowry have had to step up.
Toronto are at 3-1 after 4 games conceding a loss to the Celtics on the road. After giving the Bulls a pasting, they dug deep to grab the points against the Orlando Magic, winning the game 104-95.
It’s been all about Derrick Rose for the Pistons, who are currently on 2-2 outright. He managed a game-winning layup on Sunday to overcome the Pacers 96-94.
Luke Kennard is another who’s been performing for the Pistons. He’s a lethal shooter and has managed to get to the free throw line 4.5 times per game so far this year. He boasts a 48.1% from 3-point range.
Tonight will be really tough for Detroit away from home. A Raptors win doesn’t offer much, but shop around and check the NBA betting odds to see what different bookmakers are offering.
Take Raptors to make it 3 wins in their last three with a home win.

Parlay Pick: Raptors to win & over 212 (3.64)
For many teams after the euphoria of making it to the top, it can be difficult to find the motivation to go again the next season.
But the Raptors will feel confident having overcome the cloud of uncertainty that hung over them and will look to push on.
A return to form for Marc Gasol. He had his best game of the season against the Magic, scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The big Spaniard is 34 now and hasn’t yet managed to find a consistent role in the team after joining from the Grizzlies last season.
The Raptors are averaging 113 points per game, whereas the Pistons are managing an average of 106.5. That being said, the stats favour the game going over 212.
Moreover, with Derrick Rose lighting up the court and the emergence of Pascal Siakam and the rest of the Raptors hopefuls, we expect this to be a relatively high-scoring game.
Expect the take the win and the game to go over 212.
Parlay Pick: Raptors to win & win race to 20 points (2.97)
Coming into the season many people were underestimating the depth of talent in the Raptors roster. The loss of Leonard and Danny Green was considered to cost them dearly this season.
But they’ve rose to the challenge. They possess a strong backcourt, quality in depth on the frontcourt and a number of defenders on the wing. Toronto are disciplined defensively and if they can maintain control tonight, they’ll likely take the points.
Detroit have been able to grind out results by learning on Rose and Drummond, but we don’t see that working out for them this time around.
The Raptors are unbeaten at home so far this season and turned the Scotiabank Arena into a fortress last season. Also, for that extra little boost, they’ll now be playing under their new championship winners banner.
We feel given that the Raptors are coming into this one with momentum, and they’ll be in front of the home crowd, this is our favourite NBA free pick - the odds favour the punter too.
Take Raptors to win and be the first to 20 points.
