Let’s have a look at the 2021 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf betting picks.

Friday, November 5 at Del Mar is Future Stars Friday! And, the best two-year-old turf horses all around the world will meet in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1). The one-mile turf race is worth $1 million, and it is always an exciting betting race with a big field and improving horses!

The Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf is especially exciting for Canadian bettors because one of the top preps, the Win and You’re In Summer Stakes (G1), was held at Woodbine Racetrack earlier this fall. The race was won by Albahr, who came over from Europe for trainer Charlie Appleby. From that Woodbine win, he will be one of the leading Breeders’ Cup contenders!

The next step is to get handicapping! Let’s get to know the best horses in the 2021 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf

Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Favorites

#14 Dubawi Legend is the likely favourite. Coming in off of a second-place finish in the Dewhurst Stakes (G1), he is the class of the field. He does draw tough, though, on the far outside. It is also his first time at a mile, but he is bred well to stretch out. He also has the tactical speed to work out a trip from this kind of a draw.

Charlie Appleby has a pair in the race, and they both drew tough stalls. #1 Modern Games is the more appealing of the two. Despite the rail draw in a big field, he has won three of his last four, the ground should suit, and he is bred nicely to stretch out. Though #2 Albahr is a Canadian G1 winner at a mile, the post is of serious concern for such a shaky gate horse.

#10 Portfolio Company will take money, as he is trained by Chad Brown and will be ridden by top West Coast turf rider Flavien Prat. He can run to that money. He has the tactical speed for this relatively outside gate, and all three of his past races came at a route. Though he has to turn the tables on Coinage, Coinage will not get such an easy lead this time.

Other Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Contenders

The most intriguing horse in the race is #4 Tiz the Bomb for red-hot trainer Ken McPeek. He is tactical enough to work a trip from anywhere, even this relatively inside gate. Though he needs a career-best to win, he is proven to handle large fields, and he should be able to work a good trip and step forward for a barn that keeps showing up.

#3 Dakota Gold will take some interest off of his two wins, including a big-figure win in the Nownownow at Monmouth Park on September 26. However, there are reasons to be skeptical. The relatively inside gate is a drawback, and trainer Danny Gargan seems to underperform in graded stakes company.

Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Longshot

#5 Slipstream has won his last two races on grass and has done so with two different running styles. He can win on the front end or rally from off the pace and has excellent versatility to have when facing a big field like this. Though it is his first two-turn race, trainer Christophe Clement is excellent with first-time routers and Slipstream has the pedigree to stretch out.
