      Eastern Conference Semifinals

The Eastern Conference semifinals feature NYC FC, Toronto FC, Atlanta United and Philadelphia Union. With only 2 games left until cup glory for one of these clubs, it’s going to be a very interesting couple of days.

NYC FC (2.00) vs Toronto FC (3.50) – Thursday, 1:00am CST

NYC FC host the Canadian side at Citifield for the first of 4 semifinals across the two conferences. The 2017 winners will look to capitalise on the way in which they qualified for the play-offs, having hammered D.C. United 5-1 on Sunday.

Toronto FC have 3 wins and 2 draws in their last 5 and will look to top goalscorer Alejandro Pozuelo to find the net, as well as MLS vet Jozy Altidore, who’s on 11 goals for the season.

NYC FC have taken 3 wins, a draw and a loss in their last 5 games. They topped the league with a point differential of 6, separating themselves and second place Atlanta.

There is a bit of history between these two sides, one that’s best forgotten for the New York side. Back in 2016 the reds crushed NYCFC 7-0 on aggregate. During the season, Toronto destroyed NYCFC 4-0 back in March and the sides drew 1-1 in September.

Take NYCFC to win in the Queens.

Atlanta United (1.66) vs Philadelphia Union (4.33) – Friday, 2:00am CST

The Philadelphia Union will be buoyed after making MLS history on Sunday, by beating the New York Red Bulls in an exhilarating 4-3 victory to record their first ever play-off win.

They are straight back into the action against the MLS holders Atlanta United, who ended up finishing second in the league.

If the Union want to extend their journey into the Play-offs they must achieve something they never have before, win at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. However, they did win the last tie between the two sides, 3-1 at home.

Atlanta manager Frank de Boer, guided his team to an MLS title last season for the first time in the club’s history. The Dutchman’s side haven’t been at the level they were last season, but they’re in it and they will be happy with this tie.

Atlanta United will look to their starman, the Venzeuelan Josef Martinez to provide the goals as he’s done all season long. He’s third in the league standings, behind ex-Arsenal player Carlos Vela and the legendary Swede, on 27 goals.

Expect the Atlanta United to be too much for Philadelphia and win.

      Western Conference Semifinals

The Western Conference semifinals feature the Seattle Sounders, Real Salt Lake, LAFC, and 5 time winners LA Galaxy. There will be a lot of talent on display as we look to setup the season finale.

Seattle Sounders (1.61) vs Real Salt Lake (5.50) – Thursday, 4:00am CST

It’s been years since these two teams last met in the postseason. You’d have to go all the way back to 2011, when Salt Lake took the victory and 2012 when the Sounders came out on top.

Some 7 years later, and the two take to the CenturyLink Field for an important knockout game to decide how each teams’ season ends.

The two teams have played one another twice this year, with Real winning 3-0 and the Sounders winning 1-0 back in April.

The last 5 times these teams met at this stadium the games have been one-goal affairs, with Salt Lake only managing to take one win.

Take Seattle Sounders to win this one.

The MLS soccer betting odds are quite one-sided in this match, but offer really good odds on Real Salt Lake. Seattle are clear favourites, but it’s the MLS Play-offs and it’s soccer – anything can happen. If you’re feeling brave, take a punt on RLS at 5.50.

LAFC (1.45) vs LA Galaxy (5.58) – Wednesday, 4:30am CST

El Trafico has developed a fervid rivalry between the two LA-based clubs over the years, boasting some of the most dramatic encounters in MLS history. The Galaxy’s win over Minnesota set us up for another LA clash.

Los Angeles FC come into this one with a record of 3 wins and 2 draws in their last 5. They had a phenomenal season, recording 72 points and an astonishing +48 goal differential, yet their LA rivals remain a thorn in their side.

LA Galaxy have seen a mixed bag of results in their last 5, with 3 wins and 2 losses. It’s been a difficult season for the 5 times MLS winners. They recorded 51 points in the league, but with a shocking -1 goal differential.

They will need to play the game of their lives to overcome LAFC and the likes of the MLS’s leading scorer Carlos Vela.

LA Galaxy are veterans of this competition and they have one of the greatest strikers ever to grace the game in their lineup. Zlatan has put 30 goals away this season and will need to produce again, if Galaxy are to win.

It feels like this tie will be much closer than the bookmakers predict, but we feel the smart money says LAFC will carry on from where they left off in the league and win.
