The 2021 Major League Soccer is nearing the halfway mark, so now is a great time to check in on MLS odds to win the 2021 MLS Cup – while teams are off for the week due to the start of the CONCACAF Gold Cup – and provide a Major League soccer futures update for July 2021.
|To Win the MLS Cup|
|Los Angeles FC||7.60|
|Orlando City SC||8.60|
|Sporting Kansas City||8.80|
|New England Revolution||12.00|
Only the MLS odds of top-five teams to win the 2021 MLS Cup listed in the table above. All clubs are currently available for betting at Bet99. The odds are from July 11, 2021.
The Seattle Sounders in the Midst of an All-Time Season
The Seattle Sounders find themselves firmly atop the MLS Cup odds as they are clearly the best team as we near the midseason point. The Sounders have yet to lose a game in 2021 – going 8-5-0 with a +15 goal differential. They are currently on pace for 75.85 points this season, which would top the previous record of 72 set by the Los Angeles FC in 2019.
Seattle is handling everything teams are throwing at them. They have beat the LA Galaxy twice already – arguably the second or third best team in the Western Conference. They have allowed a league-low eight goals in 13 games this season – and only once allowed two goals or more in a game (a 2-2 draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps).
Raul Ruidiaz is having a career year for the Sounders. He has netted nine goals this season – more than his club has allowed – and two off his previous career-high. He is on pace to shatter the club record – 17 goals by Obafemi Martins – and could take home the 2021 MLS MVP Award.
This team is overall better than the one that won the 2019 MLS Cup and has a chance to go down as the best MLS club ever. Bet on them to win the 2021 MLS Cup.
Orlando City SC the Best-Looking Team in the Eastern Conference
After finally having a successful MLS season in 2020 – a +15 goal differential and a fourth-place finish, hopes were high for Orlando City SC going into the 2021 MLS season. It looks like the team built off their 2020 season and is now one of – if not the best club in the Eastern Conference.
Orlando City SC ranks first in the Eastern Conference with a +8 goal differential. They are getting it done on both sides of the field, thanks to excellent production from Luis Carlos Almeida da Cunha (six goals and three assists) and Pedro Gallese (four clean sheets in seven matches).
In a weaker than typical Eastern Conference, Orlando City SC stands a great chance of advancing through to the MLS Cup Finals – where any outcome is possible.
Can a Canadian Team Win the 2021 MLS Cup?
|To Win the MLS Cup|
It has been a tough year for the three Canadian teams – forced to play another season south of the border due to travel restrictions. However, it is not all doom and gloom for the three franchises. There is a chance to return to Canadian soil at the end of July – with fans able to attend games in Canada for the first time in over a year.
This news is welcoming for all, but especially so for the Montreal Impact. The Impact are overachieving this season. At the start of the year, they were pegged as one of the worse teams in the league – but 12 games in, they sit in fourth in the Eastern Conference.
The defence has been the strength of the Montreal Impact in 2021. The group is tied for the fewest goals allowed in the Eastern Conference – giving up only 11 goals. It is a very promising sign for a club that allowed opponents to score 60 times – ranking 22nd out of 24 teams only two years ago.
The team still needs a little more scoring to be a serious contender, but with 22 games to go in the season, they have time to find a scoring solution before the end of the season. We also like their odds right now at 40.00. They could soon return home and only start playing better. We just witnessed the Montreal Canadiens overachieve – even with limited fans in attendance. The Impact could have similar luck in a city hungry for a winner.
