With just 10 games left in the English Premier League season, there’s a lot on the line and every point counts. Liverpool has lost their last two games for the first time in over a calendar year, but have the league wrapped up already.
It’s the relegation and fourth-placed positions that are still up for grabs. Manchester United are very much in the running and will be hoping to maximize their points tally over these last few games.
They face a Man City team who have had a difficult run season, but just beat 2-1 Real Madrid at the Bernabeu and won the League Cup for the third year in a row. A must-win game for Ole’s men - can they get the 3 points?
Manchester United (5.50) vs Manchester City (1.55)
Manchester United has had a difficult season, with ups and downs along the road, they are now franticly trying to get enough points together to secure Champions League football for next season.
The Devils trail their sky-blue city rivals by 15 points, with a game in hand for City, but with no hope of catching them, they must get the three points. There is little to play for in the league for Peps’ men, apart from chasing the impossible.
Man City is back to their very best, winning their last four games and playing the kind of football that will challenge for the Champions League 2020. Star striker Aguero picked up a goal in the win over Aston Villa in the final of the Carabou Cup on Sunday.
Man United managed a 2-1 victory over City when they played them earlier in the year. City will face Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup fifth round before this one and if they continue to play the way they have been, it’ll be one-way traffic at Old Trafford.
Take City to win.
Parlay Pick: Manchester City to win and both teams to score (2.80)
Manchester United slipped up once again in their quest to ensure a top-four spot this season, scraping a win against Everton in their last game. Without Marcus Rashford, who has 14 goals and 4 assists for the season, they’re struggling to score.
Without Paul Pogba, United has struggled to unlock the defence and create chances. But new arrival Bruno Fernandes has made an immediate impact at United, picking up 2 goals and 2 assists in his first four games.
Pep Guardiola has been visibly frustrated at times throughout this campaign, which is a rarity but will be buoyed by what he’s seen from his squad over the past couple of weeks. This game will be a real showcase, which is why it made out soccer free pick of the week.
With only Leroy Sane and Laporte out, the Catalan will have an almost full squad to choose from for the remainder of the season. Aguero’s apprentice and future replacement Gabriel Jesus, has also been playing well of late, they’ll be too much for the United defence.
Pick City to win and both teams to score.
Player Pick: Raheem Sterling to score anytime (2.60)
Harry Maguire was a good acquisition for United. They’d lacked a leader to rely on at the back and the England centre-back has been just that. Equally, Wan-Bissaka has come in and done a job and with Luke Shaw, as well as the young Brandon Williams, playing well they’ve looked a lot more solid this campaign.
However, the second centre-back pairing is where things come undone. Viktor Lindelof just isn’t the player United fans long for him to be, and with Eric Bailly in and out of the physio room every month, it’s cost the Reds a lot this season.
Raheem Sterling will run at the United defence for 90 minutes and will test the cracks in the United defence. Kevin De Bruyne is playing like a Balon D’or winner at the moment and will feed Sterling, it’s just whether he’ll put his chances away.
Sterling picked up an injury in early February, but came on in the 70th minute against Real and changed the game. They trailed 1-0 at the time and his pace and ability to take-on defenders drew a penalty from Carvajal.
Eleven goals in the league and twenty-two in all competitions is an excellent record and will be of great concern to Ole’s men on Sunday.
Expect Raheem to net one at Old Trafford.
