Winnipeg Jets (2.50) vs Columbus Blue Jackets (1.59)

Columbus has been playing with a new lease of life in the past couple of weeks, for this reason we had to include them in our NHL free picks this week. They’re sixth in the Metropolitan Division, sitting on 26-16-8 overall.

The Blue Jackets lost to the Sharks in the second week of January, but have since gone all out winning every game, including shutout wins against the Golden Knights, Bruins and New Jersey Devils.

It seemed like they were going to lose in their last game against the Rangers, but two goals in the third secured the road win.

Denmark’s Oliver Bjorkstrand scored 2 goals in the victory. He has put up 14 goals and 11 assists for the 2019/20 campaign.

The Jets are 25-20-4 for the season and sit fourth in the Central Division. They are led in offense by Kyle Connor (24 goals, 24 assists) and Mark Scheifele (23 goals, 31 assists), the latter scoring against the Blackhawks in their Monday night game.

Expect a win from the homeside.

Columbus Blue Jackets to win & under 5.5 total (3.46)

The Blue Jackets will have had a bit more rest going into tonight's game, whereas the Jets have played every day so far this week. The Columbus Blue Jackets odds are very good for considering they are playing the Jets.

The Jets have been looking to snap a 3-game losing skid, which they’re more than capable of doing. They haven’t played so well of late, but we know what they’re capable of when things tick.

Elvis Merzlikins will be goaltending. He’s been on fire of late, winning his last four starts and earning shutouts in three of them. He also made 41 saves in the shutout victory over the New Jersey Devils on Sunday night.

Despite the fact Winnipeg have conceded 9 goals in their last two games, losing both, one positive is the performances of Patrik Laine. He scored against the Blackhawks and Hurricanes and has put up 17 goals and 28 assists for the season.

Expect the Blue Jackets to win & over 5.5 total.

Columbus to win overall & win the first period (4.05)

The Blue Jackets recent performances has made them the hottest team in the NHL power rankings at the moment, sitting in 14th overall.

Columbus’s form must not be underplayed. The Tampa Bay Lightning are the only team in the league to be able to match their record of eight wins in their last ten games.

Cam Atkinson has been hot with eight goals in his last 11 games. Oliver Bjorkstrand is also playing well at the moment, putting up seven in his last five.

Winnipeg will up against it here, but they do have some of the best frontmen in the NHL and will be difficult to shut down.

The NHL betting odds are favourable for Columbus, especially with the first period pick. Columbus will be in front of the home fans, plus they’re playing with great momentum going into this one.

Take the Blue Jackets to win.
