Week 28 (October 5th – November 17th)

  • It’s been a long break between the end of the regular season and moving into the postseason playoffs.

Throughout the regular season and MLB playoffs betting season, our MLB power ranking 2021 tracks the successes and failures of baseball franchises competing for the World Series.

Compared to other major pro sports, the MLB features the deepest set of available statistics, which allows for an in-depth analysis of all aspects of baseball matchups. Week 1 (April 1st  – April 5th)

  • The Houston Astros lead the table a record of 4-0 so far this season.
  • Just behind the Astros, we have the Phillies and Orioles, both sitting on 3-0 overall for the season.
  • MLB title favourites the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres are sitting a bit further afield, with a record of 3-1 each.
  • The New York Yankees have started out badly, with a record of 1-2 after the initial games.

Week 2 (April 6th  – April 12th)

  • The Oakland A’s, Mets, and Mariners are our most improved teams this week, moving up +16, +13, and +9 in the rankings, respectively.
  • The Kansas City Royals are another of the most improved teams in the MLB this week, climbing +8 places in the rankings.
  • The Yankees’ terrible start to the season continues, as they sit in 28th in the rankings dropping -12 places in the rankings.
  • The season favourites, the Los Angeles Dodgers are now atop of the rankings, with a record of 13-3 overall.

Week 3 (April 13th  – April 20th)

  • Los Angeles Dodgers are now top of the table, where you’d expect them to be as the favourites to win the title this year.
  • The Angles are second, closely followed by the Kansas City Royals who climbed a staggering +8 spots in the rankings.
  • The New York Mets and Seattle Mariners are the most improved teams this week, climbing +13 and +16 ranks, respectively.
  • The Yankees remain in the bottom three after a staggered start to the season, even losing -12 in the rankings.

Week 4 (April 21st  – April 27th)

  • The Oakland A’s excellent start to the 2021 season continues into week 4, as a string of wins sees them climbing to 2nd in the rankings with a +9 move up the table.
  • The Brewers and Giants also move into the top 5, with wins moving them +5 and +7 up, respectively.
  • The Chicago Cubs and Arizona Diamondbacks are our most improved teams this week, both climbing +10.
  • The Yankees climb out of the bottom three, as they begin to add points to the W column now sitting 22nd in the rankings.

Week 5 (April 28th  – May 3rd)

  • It’s the Milwaukee Brewers that make their way to the top of the MLB Power Rankings this week, climbing +4 in the rankings.
  • The Royals, Giants, Dodgers, and A’s occupy the remaining top 5 spots as we go into week 6 of the MLB season.
  • The Houston Astros, Cleveland Indians, and Washington Nationals are our most improved teams this week, climbing +7, +7, and +9, respectively.
  • The Yankees are starting to piece things together, climbing +6 in the rankings and sitting 16th in the league overall.

Week 6 (May 4th  – May 10th)

  • It’s the Boston Red Sox who climb to the top of the MLB Power Rankings this week, with a +5 ranking climbing above second-placed St. Louis.
  • The Oakland A’s are up to third, with the Indians now up into fourth with a +8 move.
  • The New York Mets are our most improved team moving up +11 in the rankings and now sitting in the top 10 overall.
  • The Yankees are continuing to make an improvement on their dismal start to the 2021 season, moving up +6 and sitting in 10th outright.

Week 7 (May 11th  – May 17th)

  • The outside favourites for the title this season the San Diego Padres are atop of the rankings this week, climbing +6.
  • Just behind them are the Oakland As, Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox, and the Giant to make up the top 5.
  • The season favourites the Yankees and Dodgers, sit 10th and 11th in the league after a few disappointing results.
  • It’s the Tigers and Twins that occupy the bottom spots in the league, getting off to a terrible start to the season.

Week 8 (May 18th  – May 24th)

  • The Padres remain on top after a few great performances this week.
  • The Dodgers and Rays are back where they belong, right up at the top of the table in second and third, respectively.
  • The Yankees are also finally finding their feet, climbing right up to the top five and sitting in fifth outright, with a +5 ranking this week.
  • Lower down, it’s the Detroit Tigers who climb away from the bottom of the pack and sit in 26th, with a +4 position change.

Week 9 (May 25th  – May 31st)

  • The San Diego Padres remain on top of the MLB Power Rankings this week, with a string of good wins and sitting slightly ahead of the Rays this week.
  • The Tampa Bay Rays are second in the rankings, climbing +1 and sitting just ahead of the San Francisco Giants.
  • The Chicago White Sox made a huge increase in positions this week, climbing +4 positions and now sitting 5th in the rankings.
  • The New York Yankees are still struggling, this week dropping -6 places in the table and now sitting 11th overall.

Week 10 (June 1st  – June 7th)

  • Unexpectedly, it’s the San Francisco Giants who are atop of the rankings going into week 10, climbing +2 in the rankings this week.
  • The Tampa Bay Rays are just behind them, followed by the Red Sox and Padres.
  • The Dodgers drop out of the top 5, sitting in 6th overall just ahead of the Oakland A’s and Brewers, who climbed +6 this week.
  • A solid few performances from the Cincinnati Reds sees them climb +4 in the rankings and edge towards the top half now in 17th overall.

Week 11 (June 8th  – June 14th)

  • The Tampa Bay Rays are now atop of the rankings, after a string of good games and pushing the Giants off their perch.
  • The Chicago White Sox also had an excellent week and climb to second in the rankings, moving up +3 places.
  • The Dodgers and Oakland A’s both climb +2 places in the rankings, putting them at 4th and 5th respectively.
  • The Los Angeles Angels are the team that has climbed the most this week, with +6 in the rankings.

Week 12 (June 15th  – June 21st)

  • The Giants remain atop of the pile this week, climbing +2 in the rankings overall.
  • The season favourites the Dodgers are now making their way closer to the top of rankings, climbing +2 to second outright.
  • The Astros, Athletics, Red Sox make up the top five this week and have also all had winning weeks.
  • The Yankees continue to struggle and sit 13th overall, but had a good week climbing +4 places.

Week 13 (June 22nd  – June 28th)

  • The Houston Astros are now 3rd in the league, with +7 in the rankings and performed the best this week.
  • The Boston Red Sox are up to fifth with a win this week and climbing up +1 in the rankings just behind the Oakland As.
  • The Seattle Mariners have also had a really good week, gaining +5 in the rankings and now sitting 14th in the league outright.
  • Down at the bottom, it’s the usual names and faces, with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Baltimore Orioles occupying the bottom spots in the league.

Week 14 (June 28th  – July 5th)

  • The Giant remains on top this week and continues their excellent season.
  • The Houston Astros climb a spot in the rankings and now sit second on the tables overall.
  • The San Diego Padres are 5th in the rankings, climbing +3 this week after some excellent results home and away.
  • The Washington Nationals are our best performing team this week, climbing +4 in the rankings and sitting 17th in the league overall.

Week 15 (July 6th  – July 12th)

  • The Giants remain on top of the power rankings this week, just ahead of the Astros who climb one place into second.
  • The Dodgers take a loss this week dropping down into third in the rankings, just ahead of the Red Sox on the same points.
  • The Padres climb +3 this week and now sit fifth in the rankings overall.
  • The Toronto Blue Jays are the very best in the league this week, with a string of wins and climbing +4 in the rankings to 13th overall.

Week 16 (July 13th  – July 19th)

  • The Giants remain on top as the Astros move up into second place, climbing +1 in the rankings this week.
  • The Dodgers drop out of second place into third, with the San Diego Padres now moving up into 5th with +3 in the rankings.
  • The Toronto Blue Jays are the best performing team in the MLB this week, moving up +4 in the rankings and sitting 13th overall.
  • It’s dismal for the Arizona Diamondbacks who are rock bottom again this week.

Week 17 (July 20th  – July 26th)

  • The San Francisco Giants excellent season continues as they remain atop of the MLB power rankings as we go into week 18.
  • The Dodgers are now a step closer to the top, just slightly behind the Giants and edging out the Astros and Red Sox.
  • The Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay Rays occupy the 5th and 6th spot this week, both climbing +2 in the rankings.
  • The Philadelphia Phillies are the best performing team this week, moving up +4 in the rankings and now sitting 17th outright.

Week 18 (July 27th  – August 2nd)

  • It’s still a battle at the top of the table, between the Giants and Dodgers with San Francisco still atop of the rankings this week.
  • The White Sox climb two places this week up into third outright.
  • It’s the Red Sox and Astros who fill the remaining spots in the power rankings, in joint 4th on 1597 points.
  • The Toronto Blue Jays are our best performing team this week, climbing +4 in the rankings and sitting in 10th overall this season.

Week 19 (August 3rd  – August 9th)

  • The San Francisco Giants are out in front as we go into week 20.
  • The Houston Astros and Boston Red Sox both climb +2 in the rankings and now sit second and third in the rankings, respectively.
  • The Chicago White Sox drop out of the top 5 unfortunately, conceding some losses this week.
  • The Toronto Blue Jays are the worst-performing team in the rankings this week, dropping -4 and sitting 14th outright.

Week 20 (August 10th  – August 16th)

  • The Giants remain on top this week, as the other big players in the league try to catch up.
  • The Yankees climb +3 this week and now sit 10th in the league overall.
  • It’s the Seattle Mariners and the New York Mets that miss out on an opportunity to climb the rankings this week, both dropping -3.
  • At the bottom of the table, there’s no movement for the Diamondbacks, Orioles, Rangers, Pirates and Marlins.

Week 21 (August 17th  – August 23rd)

  • The San Francisco Giants remain on top of the MLB Power Rankings this week, as they stand just a few points ahead of league favourites the Tampa Bay Rays.
  • The Rays climb up into third with a +3 climb in the rankings, pushing the Houston Astros into third.
  • The Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers make up the rest of the top 5, with the Brewers pushing up +2 in the rankings.
  • At the other end, it’s more of the same, with the Baltimore Orioles and Arizona Diamondbacks making up the bottom of the table.

Week 22 (August 24th – August 30th)

  • The Oakland A’s climb two places and make their way towards the top of the rankings, now sitting in 6th overall.
  • The Boston Red Sox are right behind them sitting in 7th, also climbing +2 in the rankings.
  • The St. Louis Cardinals are the best performing team in the Power Rankings this week, marching +4 up the rankings and sitting 15th overall.
  • The Minnesota Twins are another top team, moving up +3 in the rankings and sitting 21st outright.

Week 23 (August 31st – September 6th)

  • A steady season for the Boston Red Sox, who are now 8th in the table with a +1 in this week’s rankings.
  • The Atlanta Braves also climb +1, now sitting at 10th outright.
  • The Kansas City Royals are making their way up the rankings, now 22nd overall.
  • A bad week for the Cincinnati Reds and San Diego Padres as they drop -1 in the rankings after losses this week.

Week 24 (September 7th – September 13th)

  • San Francisco Giants remain on top of things this week.
  • The Dodgers have climbed +1 place in the rankings now sitting second overall.
  • The Tampa Bay Rays have fallen a place this week, giving up the space to the Dodgers.
  • The Yankees are marching towards the top of the rankings, now sitting in 6th outright.

Week 25 (September 14th – September 20th)

  • The San Francisco Giants remain the team to beat in the power rankings this week.
  • Just behind the Giants are the season favourites the Los Angeles Dodgers, who then have the Tampa Bay Rays, Milwaukee Brewers, and the Houston Astros behind them to make up the top 5.
  • The Toronto Blue Jays are our best performing team this week, picking up a +3 position change in the rankings this week.
  • The New York Yankees and Cleveland Indians are the worst-performing teams this week, both dropping -3 rankings.

Week 26 (September 21st – September 27th)

  • The Giants form continues, as they remain atop of the Power Rankings this week.
  • The Season favourites the Los Angeles Dodgers are just behind in second.
  • In third, we have the Tampa Bay Rays, who look like strong contenders for the World Series this year.
  • Occupying the bottom of the rankings we have the Pittsburgh Pirates, Arizona Diamondbacks, and the Baltimore Orioles.

Week 27 (September 28th – October 4th)

  • San Francisco is still doing their thing at the top of the table, dominating the game and leading the rankings.
  • The Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays make up the top three, with the Brewers and Astros sitting in 4th and 5th.
  • The Yankees are the most improved team towards the top of the table this week, moving up +3 in the rankings.
  • The Oakland A’s have struggled this week, dropping down -2 in the rankings and now sitting 12th overall.
