Alexander Zverev is Playing His Best this Year on Hard Court
The reigning Gold Medal winner is coming into the Cincinnati Open, playing some of his best tennis in his career this year on hard courts. Zverev is coming off the best performance of his career at the French Open.
The fifth-ranked man in the world made the Semi-Finals before bowing out to world number one Novak Djokovic. Those results have propelled him to a 15-5 record on hard courts (which does not include the Summer Olympics).
The third-seed in the tournament gets a bye to the round of 32, which only helps his chances at making a run at the trophy. The two seeds ahead of him – Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas – have not played their best tennis lately. Of all the favourites in the tournament, the best bet to make is on Alexander Zverev.
Roberto Bautista Agut the Best Value to Win the Tournament
Roberto Bautista Agut is coming off a semi-finals appearance at the Cincinnati Open (when they played the event in New York due to the Pandemic). He outplayed some strong opponents at the event, beating Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinals and taking Novak Djokovic to three sets – with the last one a 7(7)-6(0) affair.
Bautista Agut is again in the same bracket as Medvedev (who, as we mentioned, is not playing like a top-seed right now). He will look to improve his career record against the world number two to 4-0. His last win came earlier this year at the ATP Miami in straight sets.
His success against the highest-ranked men’s player in the tournament makes him a good value pick. This year, his winning record on hard surfaces (14-9) and at 1000 Masters event (10-5) make him a better pick.
Bests Bet to Win the 2021 WTA Cincinnati Open
The women’s side of the tournament features a more star-studded cast of players (although a few people such as Serena Williams are absent). We are looking at one side of the bracket to produce the winner – as we see good tennis betting value on two players from it winning the tournament.

Aryna Sabalenka a Good Bet at the Cincinnati Open
Aryna Sabalenka has been one of the best players in 2021 – reaching the semi-finals of Wimbledon and a win at the Madrid Open. She looked at the Canadian Open last week – another outdoor tournament played on hard court.
Sabalenka is at her strongest on hard surfaces. He owes a 72% winning percentage on hard courts – including an 18-7 mark this year. Her biggest challenge – in our opinion – is Simona Halep, who is in her bracket and beat her at Cincinnati in 2018. We see the winner of their meeting eventually winning the tournament, which is why we like her as one of the best bets to win the tournament.

As much success as Simona Halep has had in her career, one place that has always haunted her is Cincinnati. Halep’s played well at Center Court – advancing to the Finals three times. However, every time she has made it, she has lost.
But this time, she has a chance to capture the title finally. Her biggest challenge is Aryna Sabalenka, who is in the same bracket as her. Halep’s is 3-2 all-time against Sabalenka – including a 3-1 record on hard courts.
There is a good chance that they will play again, and we think the winner of that match will capture the tournament, which is why we are backing Halep and Sabalenka. We also like Halep as she is 23-8 all-time in Cincinnati – an impressive record for a tournament she has yet to win.
