Our 2026 Home Run Derby predictions break down the top contenders, best betting value, and key factors that could decide Monday night’s power showcase at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. With a hitter-friendly venue, scorching summer temperatures, and a swing-based format that rewards consistency as much as raw power, this year’s field is loaded with intrigue.
Kyle Schwarber enters as the betting favourite on his home field, but sluggers like Junior Caminero, Munetaka Murakami, Bryce Harper, and Jac Caglianone all have realistic paths to lifting the trophy. Below, we’ll analyze the latest odds, ballpark and weather conditions, the Derby format, and our best bets to help you make informed Home Run Derby wagers.
Home Run Derby predictions
We’re going to take the hometown betting angle for this year’s Home Run Derby, targeting both Schwarber and Harper to win the event at their home ballpark.
Schwarber, the betting favourite, will be making his third derby appearance. He finished as the runner-up at the 2018 event, losing to Harper 19-18 in the final. And he had lucklustre results in 2022 at Dodger Stadium, getting eliminated in the first round by Albert Pujols in a swing-off.
Schwarber is one of the most pure power hitters in the game, ranking in the 98th percentile in barrel rate, 96th percentile in hard-hit rate, and 96th percentile in average exit velocity this season.
Kyle Schwarber to win the Home Run Derby
We’re also going to hone in on Harper at 7-1 odds as our long shot.
As previously stated, he won this event in 2018 as a member of the Nationals as his then-home ballpark. He also finished as the runner-up at just 20 years old at Citi Field in New York in 2013.
Only three players have won the MLB Home Run Derby at their home ballpark, but Harper is one of them (Ryne Sandberg – 1990, and Todd Frazier – 2015 are the others) and he’ll surely feed off the energy of raucous Phillies supporters.
Back both of these Phillies to win outright and enjoy the show!

Ballpark dimensions & weather

As you can see from the above image, Citizens Bank Ballpark in Philadelphia slightly favours left-handed hitters, with only 330 feet to the right-field foul pole and 369 feet to the right-field alley. The wall is slightly higher (two feet) than the wall in left field, but lift typically isn’t an issue in an event like the Home Run Derby.
From a weather perspective, a heat warning has been issued for Philadelphia, with daytime temperatures reaching 31 C and evening temperatures around 28 C. Light winds will be blowing out to centre field at 8 mph. These are ideal conditions for a ton of home runs on Monday night, so take that into consideration when making your Home Run Derby predictions.
Home Run Derby format
Major League Baseball has replaced the time limit for the Derby with a new swing-based format. In Round 1, all eight hitters compete in a single pool, each receiving 20 swings. The top four advance to seeded head-to-head semifinals (1 vs. 4, 2 vs. 3). The semifinals and finals are each 15 swings. Every swing counts against the total, but if a player homers on his final swing, he continues swinging until he fails to hit a home run.
