The CFL’s Week 15 schedule brings another slate of intriguing matchups, including three rematches from Labour Day Weekend. With the playoff race beginning to take shape, every game carries added importance — and there are several opportunities for bettors to find value against the spread.
Here are our four Week 15 picks against the spread.
Ottawa Redblacks at Toronto Argonauts (-10.5)
Pick: Toronto Argonauts -10.5
The biggest spread on the board is also one of the most difficult to resist.
Toronto enters Week 15 at 6-6 and sits comfortably in second place in the East after a convincing 37-22 victory over Hamilton on Labour Day. Chad Kelly threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns in the win, while Damonte Coxie topped 1,000 receiving yards for the first time in his career.
The Argonauts have the offensive firepower to put pressure on an Ottawa defence that has struggled throughout the season. Toronto’s passing attack is particularly dangerous, and Kelly has shown that he can turn a close game into a runaway when the Argos get into a rhythm.
Ottawa, meanwhile, remains winless at 0-11. The Redblacks are coming off a bye, which gives them an extra week to prepare and could help them keep the game competitive early. However, Toronto has too many advantages on offence and should eventually pull away.
The double-digit spread carries some risk, but Toronto’s ability to generate explosive plays makes the Argonauts the pick against the winless Redblacks.
Prediction: Argonauts 35, Redblacks 20.
Argonauts -10.5 spread
Saskatchewan Roughriders (-1.5) at Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Pick: Saskatchewan Roughriders -1.5
The first of our short-spread favourites comes in the latest chapter of the Saskatchewan-Winnipeg rivalry.
The Roughriders survived a wild Labour Day rematch last week, beating Winnipeg 32-26 in overtime. The Bombers scored a touchdown with no time remaining to force overtime, but Saskatchewan responded in the extra period to complete the victory.
Trevor Harris was excellent for the Riders, throwing for 362 yards, while Dhel Duncan-Busby produced a breakout performance with 148 receiving yards on 10 catches. Saskatchewan’s offence has consistently shown the ability to create big plays, and its defence has been reliable enough to protect leads.
The Riders have now won two straight against Winnipeg and enter the rematch at 8-4. That momentum matters, particularly against a Bombers team that came agonizingly close to stealing the previous game.
Playing in Winnipeg should help the home side, and another one-score game is entirely possible. Still, Saskatchewan has been the more consistent team this season, and laying only 1.5 points gives us enough confidence to take the Riders.
Prediction: Roughriders 30, Blue Bombers 27.
Calgary Stampeders (+3.5) at Edmonton Elks
Pick: Calgary Stampeders +3.5
This is our underdog play of the week.
Edmonton deserves to be favoured after improving to 9-3 with a dramatic 38-28 comeback victory over Calgary on Labour Day. The Elks trailed 25-14 entering the fourth quarter before exploding for 24 points in the final 15 minutes.
The final score, however, doesn’t tell the entire story.
Calgary controlled significant portions of the game and led for much of the afternoon before Edmonton’s late surge. That makes the Stampeders particularly appealing with 3.5 points in the rematch.
Edmonton’s defence has been one of the CFL’s best, while the Elks have also received excellent production from Justin Rankin. The running back’s ability to contribute both on the ground and through the air creates matchup problems for opposing defences.
But Calgary has already demonstrated that it can move the ball against Edmonton and stay competitive for extended stretches. The Stampeders don’t need to win this game to cash the ticket — they simply need to stay within a field goal.
Edmonton is the better team, but Calgary getting more than a field goal is too attractive to pass up.
Prediction: Elks 30, Stampeders 28.
Stampeders +3.5 spread
Montreal Alouettes (-1.5) at BC Lions
Pick: Montreal Alouettes -1.5
The Alouettes are another underdog worth backing, particularly after what they accomplished in the first meeting.
Montreal defeated BC 37-30 on Labour Day, ending the Lions’ five-game winning streak and improving the Alouettes to 10-2. Montreal also became the first CFL team to clinch a playoff berth and secured a home playoff game in the process.
The victory demonstrated the Alouettes’ ability to withstand pressure from one of the league’s hottest teams. BC made life difficult for Montreal early, but the Alouettes exploded for 20 points in the third quarter to seize control.
Tyrice Beverette’s pick-six was one of the game’s defining moments, while Montreal’s offence continued to produce when it mattered most.
BC now returns home looking to even the season series, and the Lions are deserved favourites. Their recent five-game winning streak showed just how dangerous this team can be, particularly at home.
Still, Montreal has the CFL’s best record and already proved it can beat BC. Getting 1.5 points with a team this good is enough to make the Alouettes our pick.
Prediction: Alouettes 33, Lions 30.
