2019-20 College Football Playoff Free Picks and Predictions

The 2019-20 College Football Playoff is sure to provide loads of excitement and great plays. Which team will end up winning the National Championship?

In what proved to be one of the most dramatic college football seasons in recent years, only four teams remain in the hunt to win the national championship. That's right, LSU, Ohio State, Clemson and Oklahoma are all ready to try and stand at the top alone.

However, before we get to the final, the College Football Playoff semifinals will be played later this month. No. 1 LSU will take on No. 4 Oklahoma, while No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Clemson will be ready to go to war. While on paper LSU may be the best team, don't rule out any of the teams still in the hunt.

Clemson and Dabo Swinney won the national championship last year and know what it takes to get the job done with the odds stacked against them. Oddsmakers figured Alabama would cruise to the title last year over Clemson, but as we all know, that didn't happen.

So, what does this CFP have in store for us?

No. 1 LSU vs. No. 4 Oklahoma: 28/12/19 @ 4:00 PM ET

Ed Orgeron and the Tigers are looking to finish off what's been one of the best campaigns we've seen from LSU in its history. The team cruised to an SEC championship win over Georgia and took down Alabama in Tuscaloosa in the same campaign.
That's the kind of success most teams dare not even dream of. However, just because they're massive 13-point favorites over the Oklahoma Sooners, that doesn't mean Lincoln Riley and his group won't be ready to turn heads. If anyone knows how to step up when the pressure is on him, it's quarterback Jalen Hurts.
The Alabama transfer is now with the Sooners and has OU back in the playoff. This is what he left Alabama for. For the opportunity to lead a team to the 'final four' and compete for a natty. He'll need to make plays with both his arm and feet for the Sooners to have a shot.
Oh and for Oklahoma, its defense is going to need to somehow try and contain Joe Burrow. The Heisman Trophy favorite and projected No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft has had a sensational season. On the year, Burrow has thrown for 4,715 yards and 48 touchdowns. Those are video game-type stats.

LSU Tigers To beat the Oklahoma Sooners

Oklahoma defensive coordinator Alex Grinch will have his hands full trying to call the right plays to keep Burrow quiet. Unfortunately for Oklahoma fans, we think Burrow and the rest of the offense will simply be too much to handle, so we're picking LSU to move on to the title game.

No. 2 Ohio State vs. No. 3 Clemson: 28/12/19 @ 8:00 PM ET

If you thought LSU vs. Oklahoma was going to be good, just wait until later in the day when Justin Fields and the Ohio State Buckeyes will take on Trevor Lawrence and the Clemson Tigers.

Fields and Lawrence are two of the best quarterbacks in the country, with their offenses giving opposing defenses nightmares each week. For the Buckeyes, they've also got a premier running back in JK Dobbins and arguably the best player in all of college football in pass-rusher Chase Young.

Young is in the Heisman Trophy conversation despite being a defensive player. That tells you just how incredible he has been this fall.

Ohio State Buckeyes To beat the Clemson Tigers

Clemson, the defending national champs, enter this one as two-point favorites. However, we think OSU will get the job done and take on LSU for all the marbles.

Who will be crowned the National Champion in early January?

As you read above, we're predicting a No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown in the National Championship Game this season, with LSU and Ohio State meeting in the title showdown on Jan. 13 at the Superdome in New Orleans. Quite frankly, it doesn't matter where this game is played; we're all in on LSU.

The Tigers were the best team in the country throughout the year and dominated their opponents each weekend. Ohio State is no question an elite program, with superstar players. However, what Ed Orgeron and Co. have been able to accomplish this year can't be forgotten.

LSU Tigers To win the National Championship

They've just got the feel of champions, with players on both sides of the ball buying in to Coach O and his staff's plan from the start. LSU the 2019-20 national champs? You better believe it.
