John Salter vs Costello van Steenis (Middleweight bout)
John Salter is not new to the fighting game. The 34 year-old has eight wins in his last nine contests, with an MMA record of 16-4-0 overall.
He’s coming off the back of a first-round finish of Chidi Njokuani at Bellator 210. This will be the eighth Bellator fight in his 10-year professional career as he looks to earn his seventh promotional victory.
The Birmingham man has seven first-round finishes and has made an impressive run through Bellator’s 185-pound class and now faces a real test against the Dutchman.
Van Steenis’s last victim was Mike Shipman, in the last event at Bellator 223. It was a shock defeat as the Dutchman handed Shipman the first loss of his Bellator career. This gave him a career record of 12-1-0.
That fight setup an exciting matchup in this one. A close training partner of Gegard Mousasi, Van Steenis has been honing his craft in Spain, result in him picking up the nickname “The Spaniard”.
Undefeated since signing for Bellator, Van Steenis intends to make his mark on the organisation and go all the way.
Take John Salter to beat Costello van Steenis.
Muhammed Lawal vs Andrew Kapel (Light-heavyweight bout)
Muhammed Lawl, or “King Mo”, once a competitor in the UFC, has had an extensive career. He was once considered one of the best light heavyweight prospects in the world.
The 38 year-old Tennessee veteran has a fighting record of 21-9-0. After such a long career, he is looking to make this one of his final fights and go out on a win.
He even said himself, “I just want to end my final fight with a win,” It’s been a tough time for the big man, as he’s been knocked out in three striaght losses and dropped 5 of his last 7.
Andrew Kapel will be looking to add to his MMA tally of 14-6-0. The 34 year-old isn’t new to the fight game either, who has seen a lot of success in recent times.
He has won four consecutive bouts, with 3 of his wins by rear-naked choke. The matchup against “King Mo” will mark his Bellator debut, after a successful career on the regional circuit.
Take Kapel to take the fight to Muhammed Lawal and win.
Leslie Smith vs Arlene Blencowe (Featherweight bout)
The next contender for the featherweight title has been in contention for some time, but it appears the winner of this bout may emerge as the next prospect.
Both women competed at Bellator 224 this summer. Leslie Smith managed a successful promotional debut by overcoming Sinead Kavanagh via decision.
Smith has won three straight fights including her last two in the UFC, with an overall of 10-7-1.
Blencowe made her mark on the event, by putting in a devastating performance against Amanda Bell - knocking her down with a flurry of punches in just 22 seconds.
Blencowe has won five or her last six fights, with a record of 12-7-0.
Both these women have had title shots in the past, with Smith competing for the UFC title, against the notorious Cris Cyborg, but she lost to a first round TKO.
Blencowe also fought for the title back at Bellator 189, but lost to a split decision.
Expect Leslie Smith to beat Arlene Blencowe.
