The Blue Jays are in a good position to do some damage on Friday night against Trevor Rogers and the Orioles.

Rogers has been absolutely horrific over his last three starts (17 ER in 12 1/3 innings), and the Blue Jays are one of the best teams in the majors at making contact and putting the ball in play. Baltimore’s bullpen has also been shaky this season, combining for a 4.54 ERA (21st in MLB).

The Orioles are allowing an average of 5.21 runs per game (28th in the majors) this season, one of the reasons why they’re one of the best Over bets on game total in the big leagues (32-24-1 over/under record).

Additionally, the weather forecast is favourable for offence on Friday night, with warm temperatures and light winds blowing out.

Greg’s Blue Jays predictions are 15-9-2 for +4.29 units this season.

Betting the Blue Jays (28-29 SU, 28-29 ATS, 27-29-1 o/u)

The Blue Jays won for the 10th time in the last 14 games after claiming a 2-1 victory over the Orioles in the series opener on Thursday night.

Patrick Corbin allowed a single run and four hits in five-plus innings to continue his great run since signing with Toronto in early April, and now the Blue Jays find themselves just one game below .500 entering play Friday.

Andres Gimenez blasted his sixth home run of the season in the victory, but Toronto did go 0-for-6 with runners in scoring in position.

Betting the Orioles (26-31 SU, 26-31 ATS, 32-24-1 o/u)

Former Blue Jay Chris Bassitt turned in six solid innings of one-run ball against his former club on Thursday, but the Orioles managed just one run on eight hits while going 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position.

The Orioles had managed five wins in six contests heading into Thursday’s series opener with Toronto, but they’ve now lost five straight games to Toronto dating back to last season.

Probable starting pitchers

Toronto: TBD

Baltimore: LHP Trevor Rogers (2-6, 6.96 ERA, 1.62 WHIP, 7.38 K/9)

It’s been an ugly start to the season for Rogers, who has an ugly 12.41 ERA across three May starts against the Tigers, Rays, and Yankees. He coughed up 17 earned runs over 12 1/3 innings in that span, so he certainly won’t be bringing a ton of confidence into this start against Toronto.

Right-handed batters have been killing the southpaw, slashing .328/.389/.522 with a combined .912 OPS against Rogers. However, he’s been extremely effective against left-handed hitters, holding them to a .190 batting average and .589 OPS.

His 4.53 xERA suggests he’s been getting a tad unlucky this season, but Rogers has been a big disappointment overall this season for the Orioles.
