Best NHL Player Prop Bets For Today (10/8/26)

Minnesota Wild defensemen Quinn Hughes (43) celebrates after scoring a goal against the Boston Bruins during the third period at Grand Casino Arena.

Thursday’s busy NHL slate features three more intriguing player prop angles worth a look at the best NHL betting sites.

Quinn Hughes to record a point

Hughes enters tonight’s road game at Tampa Bay already producing at an elite clip in his first full season with Minnesota after being acquired from Vancouver in a blockbuster trade this past December. Through the Wild’s first three games, Hughes has racked up a goal and three assists while logging heavy minutes on the top pairing and power play.

The 26-year-old is coming off a career-best 76-point season split between the Canucks and Wild, a pace that would have ranked among the league’s elite defencemen had he played a full schedule, and he’s shown no signs of slowing down early in 2026-27. With a featured role in all situations against a Lightning team that has been inconsistent defensively to open the year, the point market remains a strong target most nights.

Hughes has recorded at least one point in six straight games dating back to last season, and he and his teammates have more opportunities for points against Lightning backup goaltender Dennis Hildeby on Thursday night, with perennial Vezina contender Andrei Vasilevskiy getting the night off.

Jack Eichel to record an assist

Eichel has been in complete playmaking form to open the season, recording at least one assist in each of Vegas’s first four games and tallying a remarkable eight helpers in that span. The Golden Knights’ captain continues to quarterback a potent power play and top line that has helped Vegas jump out to a 3-1 start with 17 goals scored through four contests.

Facing a Toronto team that has been generous defensively early on, allowing 11 goals through its first four games, Eichel’s current run of helper-friendly usage lines up well against a Leafs blue line that is suspect. Given the consistency of his assist streak, the over remains a sound target tonight.

Tage Thompson over 3.5 shots on goal

Thompson remains one of the league’s most dangerous volume shooters, having fired 272 shots on net last season en route to his third 40-goal campaign in four years. His shot profile is elite by any measure, ranking in the 99th percentile among forwards in both mid-range and long-range shots on goal, and he was credited with three of the seven hardest shots recorded by any forward in the league a season ago.

Thompson opened this season with four shots on goal in a loss to Columbus, a modest total relative to his typical workload, and he now gets a Dallas team at home that figures to give Buffalo’s top line plenty of offensive-zone time. Given his track record of hovering around or above a four-shot pace on any given night, the over on 3.5 shots is a strong value play.
