Look, this tournament is Scottie Scheffler’s to lose, but if anyone can knock him off this week, it’s the upstart Suber.
The 26-year-old American is in the midst of a true breakout season, and he was a real threat at last week’s British Open before dropping out of contention in the final round. He finished T6 at the John Deere Classic in his start prior to The Open, suggesting he’s right on the verge of capturing his first PGA Tour victory.
Suber, known for his elite iron play, ranks fifth on Tour in Greens In Regulation Percentage (70.59), fourth in Average Proximity To The Hole (34 feet), and 26th in Scoring Average (69.57). His putting metrics are below the Tour average, but he’ll be a contender this week if he can find a way to get hot with the flat stick.
At 45-1 odds, there’s real value in backing Suber this week considering the weak field.
The Favourite
Scottie Scheffler is the only player inside of the top 30 in the World Golf Rankings competing this week, so it’s not surprising that he has ridiculously short +275 odds to win the 3M Open outright.
Surprisingly, Scheffler has just one win on Tour this season, and it came way back in January at The American Express. However, the World No. 1 has cracked the top 10 on 10 different occasions, and this is, by far, the weakest field he’s played against this season.
Scheffler is in excellent recent form, finishing T4 at the British Open, losing in a playoff at the Travelers Championship, and also T4 at the U.S. Open across his last four events.
There’s isn’t much value in backing Scheffler at +275 odds to win outright, but a wager at +1600 odds on him to win wire-to-wire seems feasible for bettors looking for a different angle to back him.

Notable Canadians In The Field
Corey Conners (+4000): It’s been a disappointing year for Conners, who has just one top 10 to his credit. However, he is coming off a very respectable T14 finish at the British Open and does have some momentum this week against a weak field.
Mackenzie Hughes (+9000): Hughes has a pair of top-10 finishes in his last five events and is coming off a decent T20 result at the Puntacana Championship.
Sudarshan Yellamaraju (+10000): He burst onto the PGA Tour scene this year with a trio of top-10 finishes but has lost some steam of late by missing the cut in two of his last three events.
Taylor Pendrith (+10000): Pendrith has missed the cut in two of his last three events, but he was spectacular at the ISCO Championship sandwiched in between those missed cuts, losing in a playoff to finish second outright.
Adam Hadwin (+40000): A true long shot this week, Hadwin has missed the cut in four of his last five PGA Tour events.
