Winnipeg Blue Bombers Big Favourites to Win 2021 Grey Cup

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are the best team in the Canadian Football League this season, and it is not even close. The Blue Bombers are 10-1, clinched the West Division, and just won against the BC Lions 45-0. The best CFL betting sites love Winnipeg as the postseason looms.

The Blue Bombers are a complete team. Their starting QB – Zach Collaros – is now the favourite to win the 2021 CFL MOP award. He has an 18-6 TD-INT ratio with 2832 passing yards and a 10-1 record. The Blue Bombers offence is not only a great QB but a balanced attack. They have the CFL’s fourth-leading rusher (second in rushing yards per game at 89.0) Andrew Harris. They can build leads and run the ball effectively to kill any opponent’s chance of coming back.

While the offence is good, the defence is elite. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are allowing only 11.45 points per game this season – by far the best mark in the CFL. They have the best pass-rush in the CFL with Jackson Jeffcoat and Willie Jefferson combining for 13 sacks.

The unit also ranks first in yards allowed per game and has two players tied for second in the CFL – D. Nichols and D Alford – with three interceptions. There is no better team or better bet to win the 2021 Grey Cup than the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Montreal Moves Ahead of Toronto for Best Bet in the East

The Montreal Alouettes pulled off a huge win in Week 12 against the Toronto Argonauts to move into a tie with them atop the East Division and a tie for the second-best Grey Cup odds to win the championship. Montreal’s offence this season is potent – with one of the best rushing attacks seen in the last few seasons.

Montreal leads all teams this season averaging 155.3 rushing per game and 415.6 total yards per game. Running back William Stanback is electric this season leading the CFL with 880 rushing yards (in only eight games) and 6.62 yards per career. In three seasons in the CFL, Stanback has never averaged less than 6.16 yards rushing per game. He is the real deal.

The Alouettes also have enough pieces on defence to compete for the Grey Cup. David Menard’s seven sacks are tied for the lead in the CFL, while defensive back Rodney Randle Jr. is second in interceptions with three.

Montreal is playing well, even with a recent injury to quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. Adams is an athletic QB, who works great in Montreal’s system – picking up 300 rushing yards on fifty carries. Matthew Shiltz – more of a traditional quarterback – has played well in relief, proving the offence is built around talent and not just a system.

Overall, Montreal is a talented team. In Week 14 they play the Winnipeg Blue Bombers – in what looks like could be a preview of the next Grey Cup. We will learn more about both teams in that game but ahead of that showdown, Montreal looks like one of – if not the only team that could stop Winnipeg this season.

Hamilton is Still Alive and Could Surprise in Playoffs

If “defence wins championships” is your adage – you may want to bet on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to win the 2021 Grey Cup. Hamilton ranks second in rushing yards allowed, second in points allowed, and third in total yards allowed.

Hamilton is also getting more consistency from their starting quarterback. Jeremiah Masoli – after a terrible start to the season and an injury – is back as Hamilton’s starting QB. Masoli is playing much better now – with a 4-0 TD-INT ratio and 781 passing yards in his last two starts.

If he can continue to play at this level – which helped Hamilton finish with the best record (15-3) in the CFL in 2019, Hamilton is a much better team.

Their 5-5 record is also a positive. The collapse of the BC Lions has Hamilton back in the postseason picture with only four games left on the schedule. They likely make a push over their final four games of the season – a stretch that should allow them to continue to develop their offence. Then in the playoffs – anything can happen.

They also get home-field advantage for the Grey Cup this year – which would give them an important edge over Winnipeg (assuming they represent the West Division in the Grey Cup).
