Manchester United's Betting Odds

Despite their poor results over the last half-decade, if someone were to refer to Manchester United as the biggest soccer club in the world, it would not be hyperbole. It would be factual.

Valued at just over $3.8 Billion by Forbes in 2020, the Red Devils of Manchester United are the third-richest club in the world, just behind Barcelona and Real Madrid.

However, regardless of financial status, the supporters of the club are disappointed with the current state of their beloved club.

In the summer of 2005 American Malcolm Glazer, assumed 98% control of Manchester United shares and has been leveraging the club’s finances ever since. But since winning their record 20th English Title in 2013, and the subsequent retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson, their greatest and winningest manager, the Red Devils have fallen off of England’s throne, and it has not been pretty.

In 1500 career games as United Manager, Ferguson had a 59.7% winning percentage, won 13 Premier League titles, 5 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, 2 Champions Leagues and multiple other smaller trophies. These were indeed going to be hard shoes to fill.

David Moyes, Louis Van Gaal and Jose Mourinho all failed to fill those boots thus far. In December 2018, the Special One was terminated and former Manchester United super sub-Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, aka ‘the Baby Faced Assassin’ was appointed as the caretaker.

In March of 2019, after a few months of exceeding expectations, Solskjaer was announced as the new manager of the club and given a 3-year contract.

However, many supporters believe that regardless of who the manager is, the club will not return to prominence until executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is removed from his post.

Manchester United play their home games at Old Trafford, one of the marquee stadiums in the world. It is appropriately nicknamed the “Theatre of Dreams”.

Manchester United's odds to win the Champions League

Manchester United finished in 6th place in the 2018/19 Premier League and as result will NOT be participating in this upcoming season's Champions League. Automatic places in the Champions League are given to the teams that finish in the top 4 positions in England's top division.

Manchester United's odds to win the Premier League

Jose Mourinho was famously quoted as saying that finishing 2nd with Manchester United in the 2017/18 season was his greatest achievement as a manager. Perhaps he wasn't just blowing hot air, as in the post-Ferguson era, they have not finished higher than 4th, apart from that one season.

Manchester United Premier League Odds have opened at an eye-popping 40.00 on William Hill to win the League next season. This is the highest price most will have ever seen in their lifetimes. As of February 2020, there are no odds available for Manchester United winning the Premier League.

Manchester United's odds to win the FA Cup

Louis Van Gaal's last game as Manchester United gaffer was a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace in the 2015/16 FA Cup Final. It was his first and only piece of Silverware while at the club. Manchester United odds to win the FA Cup this season stand at 13.00.

Manchester United's odds to win the League Cup

Similarly, Manchester United's odds to win the League Cup have opened at 10.00. Though Manchester United lost out to local rivals Manchester City 3-2 in January and is now out of the 2020 League Cup.

In addition to winning the Community Shield and Europa League in his debut season as United manager, Jose Mourinho also won the League Cup back in 2016/17 and, ever the modest salesman, boasted about his accomplishment referring to it as 'winning a Treble'.

In response, some pundits labelled it the 'Scouse Treble' as a cheeky way to make fun of both United and Liverpool in the same breath.

Manchester United's Odds to beat Manchester City

The first Manchester Derby was back in December, a game won by Manchester United 2-1. There is still another game to play, at the Etihad on March 7th, 2020 at Old Trafford. Match odds for these fixtures will be available closer to the dates of play.

In their last 10 head-to-head Premier League meetings City have won 5, drawn 1 and lost 4 to their local rivals. The over/under of 2.5 has an even record of 5-5 and the total goals in the last 10 league fixtures are exactly 26 (2.6 goals per game average).

City has scored 14 of those goals, and United 11.

Manchester United's odds on New Manager

There is a growing sense that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be entering next season as a lame-duck manager. The United board may have really bottled this one, as the moment they handed Solskjaer a 3-year deal, the form of the club fell off a cliff.

United upset PSG in the round of 16 of the Champions League in dramatic fashion. Manchester United fans finally felt like the club was on the right track after almost 6 seasons of ineptitude.

After Solskjaer officially became the manager the clock struck midnight and his chariot reverted back to a pumpkin, losing a number of games.

If next season starts the way his first season ended, Ole may be given his walking papers and United will be paying multiple salaries to sacked managers, the calling card of a poorly run organization.

The leader in the clubhouse odds wise to be the next Manchester United manager is current Tottenham architect Mauricio Pochettino at 2.75.

After him, names like Allegri, Benitez, Conte and Ancelotti are all available at 7.00 or higher. But Pochettino has been rumoured to be United's golden child for quite some time now. The prevailing sentiment is that the moment he becomes available United will snatch him up and hand him the keys.

Manchester United's Odds to be relegated

This would be totally unexpected but there are odds to see the Red Devils playing in the Championship in the 2020/21 season. Manchester United's odds to be relegated this upcoming season are 501.00.
