MLB Rookie of the Year Odds 2020

As we said above, the young talent in the bigs can’t be measured. In 2020, plenty of youngsters will turn heads and make a monster impact for their teams, consistently raising their Rookie of the Year MLB odds. So, which players should fans keep an eye on?

Starting with the American League, guys will look to follow up on the brilliant year from 2019 AL Rookie of the Year Yordan Alvarez, the standout DH and outfielder for the Houston Astros. Last season, he hit .313, with 98 hits and 78 RBI.

Looking at the current MLB Rookie of the Year 2020 odds, Tigers pitcher Casey Mize has the second-highest odds to win AL Rookie of the Year, but he’s just behind White Sox outfielder Michael Kopech, who is the favourite right now.

Michael Kopech has an unbelievable arm and will do well this season. The 23-year old is throwing at over 100mph and will bring the heat in the 2020 MLB season.

Over in the National League, the big-time favourite in the Vegas odds for Rookie of the Year is LA Dodgers' second baseman Gavin Lux. The 6-2, 190-pounder is listed on MLB.com as the No. 2 prospect for 2020. Following a great campaign in the minors, Lux ended up playing in 23 games in the majors last year.

While he was called up, Lux hit .240, with 18 hits, two of them being homers. He added nine RBI and two stolen bases. We’re expecting a terrific campaign for Lux, as the Dodgers look to keep adding wins and improve their World Series Odds for next fall.

MLB Rookie of the Year Predictions

Everyone wants to know who will be the MLB Rookies of the Year for this campaign. While separating the group of rookies is difficult for this season, two players stand at the top for us here at Canada Sports Betting: White Sox OF Michael Kopech Luis and Dodgers 2B Gavin Lux.

With Michael, picking him over Casey Mize wasn’t easy, but Michael will be playing in 2020. He’s got unreal power, which we believe will lead him to AL MVP honours.

As for Lux, this kid just has the it factor and has the highest odds on multiple different MLB Betting Sites. He’ll hurt you at the plate and by making outstanding plays in the infield.

With LA once again expected to compete for a trip to the World Series and always have high MLB regular season Odds, especially after adding Mookie Betts and David Price, Lux’s chances of winning Rookie of the Year will only increase.

What does the MLB Rookie of the Year get?

When the annual awards are announced, the top rookie in the AL and NL will receive the Rookie of the Year award, which was renamed the Jackie Robinson Award more than 30 years ago back in 1987. The winner will receive an official plaque once they’ve been named the winner.

While the MLB doesn’t give money to rookies for winning the award, certain players could have different incentives in their contracts for Rookie of the Year.

How is the Rookie of the Year decided?

As is the case with the MVP, the AL and NL Rookie of the Year is voted on by members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America. The ballots for Rookie of the Year are submitted before the start of the postseason, with the play during the regular season and a team's MLB Power Rankings certainly taken into consideration.

When is the MLB Rookie of the Year announced?

Each November, after the World Series has officially come to a close, the Rookies of the Year for both leagues will be revealed to players, teams and fans. Last year, Pete Alonso and Yordan Alvarez have announced the winners on Nov. 11. Look for the 2020 winners to be notified around the same date.
