The Toronto Maple Leafs visit Climate Pledge Arena on Wednesday, Oct. 28, with puck drop against the Seattle Kraken scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Our Maple Leafs vs. Kraken prediction backs Over 6.5 goals, looking for both offences to capitalize on defensive mistakes.
Toronto is coming off a 5–2 loss at Calgary on Monday, while Seattle last played Saturday, falling 5–1 to Minnesota. Both clubs need a response, but the Kraken must find theirs without Jared McCann.

Our Maple Leafs vs. Kraken Prediction
Over 6.5 total goals
We like the Over because Toronto brings two productive finishers into a matchup against a Seattle offence with scoring contributions throughout its lineup. The bet needs both teams to punish mistakes rather than leave one side carrying the scoring load.
Auston Matthews has nine goals and 11 assists in 14 games during the 2026 regular season, while William Nylander has nine goals and 10 assists across the same number of games. Seattle enters Wednesday with eight players who have scored at least three goals, tied for the second-most in the NHL. That spread gives the hosts several routes to contribute to a high-scoring game.
However, McCann is included in that group. He is on injured reserve with a lower-body injury and is expected to miss approximately 10 weeks after recording three goals and five assists in 11 games.
“It’s a blow to us for sure,” Seattle coach Lane Lambert said, pointing to McCann’s power-play shot, veteran presence and poise under pressure.
Replacing those qualities is the biggest hurdle. Still, Seattle’s remaining scoring depth and Toronto’s finishing threats keep us on the Over, with seven goals needed to cash.

Betting the Maple Leafs (7-7 SU, 9-5 ATS, 9-5 o/u)
Encouraging signs for Toronto’s offence extend beyond Matthews and Nylander, with the team’s fourth line also making meaningful contributions to this point in the season.
Puck management remains the pressure point. After the Calgary defeat, coach Jim Hiller stressed the need for cohesive play and fewer turnovers: “It takes the group to play well.” Kirill Marchenko could not finish that game after taking a hit and is considered week-to-week.
Sergei Bobrovsky’s early results have also drawn scrutiny, but GM John Chayka defended his longer-term role. “We brought him in to be there when the pressure ramps up and we need a rock back there,” Chayka said. Cleaner play in front of him would help Toronto turn its offensive work into a better result.
Betting the Kraken (7-5 SU, 8-4 ATS, 8-4 o/u)
Jani Nyman gets an opportunity to help fill the scoring void. He has nine goals in his first nine AHL games with Coachella Valley, compared with seven goals in 40 career NHL games with the Kraken.
“He’s moving his feet, he’s going to the net and he’s using his shot,” Lambert said. He identified the next step as “getting that shot off and adjusting and adapting to the speed of the game at this level.”
Nyman worked on dryland speed and leg strength in Finland during the off-season and acknowledged that he needs to skate faster and battle better. His AHL production gives Seattle encouragement, but it does not make him an automatic replacement for McCann’s offence.
Bobby McMann brings a different connection to Wednesday’s opponent after four seasons in Toronto. Discussing Matthews, he said, “You just see how intentional he is with everything that he does,” adding, “There’s a reason he scores so many goals and is so dynamic offensively.”
McMann expressed excitement about facing the Leafs, even with fewer familiar faces following what he called a “crazy turnover” over the summer. Seattle’s task is to make Toronto defend at the other end without giving those finishers easy chances off turnovers.
