Best NHL Player Props Today (4/16/26)

Seattle Kraken forward Bobby McMann (74) is congratulated by teammates on the bench after scoring a goal during the third period against the Vegas Golden Knights at Climate Pledge Arena.

In this article, Canada Sports Betting’s Nick Martin breaks down the two best NHL player prop picks that provide value at online sportsbooks today (4/16/26).

We’ve got back on track with four straight winning selections, and these guides are now up +9.44 units across 175 selections this season. We will stick with a similar approach Thursday, and target some star skaters having solid performances in Game 82 versus a pair of potentially shorthanded lineups.

The Utah Mammoth will officially play the Vegas Golden Knights in Round 1, in what should be a sneaky-good series. The Mammoth have yet to rest key bodies, but it’s quite logical that we will see that change Thursday.

The Blues’ red-hot top line of Thomas, Snuggerud, and Dylan Holloway terrorized an extremely shorthanded Pittsburgh Penguins side on Tuesday, as they combined for nine points in the 7-5 win. The Blues hold a record of 16-5-3 since the Olympic break, and across 69 man games, their top line has combined for 86 points.

Across 241.7 minutes together, the Holloway-Thomas-Snuggerud trio has outscored opponents 22 -5, and scored 5.46 goals per 60. Since the All-Star break they have arguably been the very best line in the NHL and will be a handful for a Mammoth lineup which will likely be without numerous top skaters to keep in check.

You could get aggressive and parlay all three skaters to record a point or mix in Snuggerud to record over 2.5 shots on goal as well. But a price of +105 for Thomas and Snuggerud each to record a point looks quite appealing given their recent form, and the fact that this will likely prove to be a more advantageous matchup than oddsmakers are currently expecting with the Blues priced at -125.

Bobby McMann Over 2.5 Shots on Goal: -120 (Play to -130)

Our second pick comes from a similar vein, as we will target another skater that has been highly effective of late versus an Avalanche side that will likely be without numerous top skaters.

McMann has been a bright spot for the Kraken down the stretch, having registered 14 points throughout 17 games with the team. During his tenure with the Toronto Maple Leafs McMann did generally rank among the team leaders in shot attempts per 60, so it’s no surprise that now that he is skating on a top line with two pass-first skaters, his shot volume has been pretty significant.

During his 17 games with Seattle, McMann has averaged 3.29 shots on goal per game and recorded over 2.5 shots on target in 12 of those matchups. He’s also averaged 6.29 shot attempts per game in that span, and recorded eight or more shot attempts in five of the last six games.

The Avalanche hold a deep roster and will still play a well-structured game regardless of who plays in this matchup, but this is still a livable spot given the expectation that Colorado will rest several key bodies, as well as McMann’s highly convincing recent volume.
