Head coach Rod Brind’Amour reunited what has been Carolina’s most commonly used top line of Aho, Svechnikov, and Seth Jarvis three games ago, and since that point the trio has combined for a total of 18 points over the last three games.

Spencer Knight has been in great form of late, as has been the case for most of the season, but the Chicago Blackhawks do not have overly convincing matchups to offer in attempting to shut down what has been one of the league’s more dominant units. Over the last 10 games, Chicago has allowed 3.79 xGA/60, and Knight will likely face a very tough workload in Thursday’s matchup.

In 268.4 minutes together this season, Aho, Svechnikov, and Jarvis have scored 3.35 goals per 60. They are threatening off the rush but especially effective at sustaining spells of offensive zone possession, pouring chance after chance on goal following strong sequences down low. They have generated 78.92 shot attempts per 60 this season, and though many of those aren’t of the highest danger, it’s still led to a lot of actual production.

Following a poor start to the season, Svechnikov has come on very strong with 28 points over the last 25 games, which is tied with Aho for first on the Hurricanes. Backing all three of Aho, Jarvis, and Svechnikov to record a point at +120 is an option, but I prefer just the Svechnikov/Aho stack due to the fact that Svechnikov is priced the longest to record a point despite being more productive than Jarvis over the last two months.

Best bet—Roman Josi Over 2.5 Shots on Goal +100

Josi over 2.5 SOG

Josi is certainly in our good books so far this season, as we have backed him to record over 2.5 shots on goal three times (Nov. 24, Nov. 26, Dec. 4), and he’s cashed in each of those outings at an average price of +116. Considering his recent volume, I’m willing to back this prop at a slightly lesser price in what will be the Predators captain’s 1,000th game in the league.

In 14 games over the last month of play, Josi has averaged 23:53 of time-on-ice and has generated six goals and 13 points and averaged 6.28 shot attempts per game. He’s recorded over 2.5 shots on goal in 10 of those 14 games and should be a safe bet to, at a minimum, receive his usual hefty usage in what should be a competitive game versus a desperate Ottawa Senators side.

The Senators have allowed only 25.0 shots against per 60 over the last month. They have suppressed scoring chances more effectively than the vast majority of the league for the entirety of the season and by no means offer an ideal matchup. Given the recent hit rate of this prop, which appears sustainable based on Josi’s usage and shot attempt volume, a tough matchup seems to be a livable concern given that we are still getting even money, let alone if you put any stock in the potential that Josi may have a little extra jump tonight.
