Kyle Tucker is the top MLB free agent available in 2026 across multiple big boards after his contract expired with the Chicago Cubs following the 2025 season.
The veteran outfielder is projected to earn an 11-year, $400 million contract via free agency, according to MLBTradeRumors, and should be pursued by clubs with deep pockets and World Series aspirations.
Kyle Tucker to sign with Toronto Blue Jays
Tucker’s resume speaks for itself: four-time All-Star, 2022 World Series champion, two-time Silver Slugger Award winner, and a Gold Glove Award. The 28-year-old is coming off a solid season with the Cubs, smashing 22 homers and 73 RBIs with an .841 OPS in 136 games. He was a 4.5 WAR player, ranking inside the top 50 among position players in baseball last season.

Kyle Tucker next team predictions
It’s not surprising that the Los Angeles Dodgers (+325 odds) are the frontrunners to land Tucker’s services because they’re always a threat to spend big and land the top free agents in every offseason. One year removed from a monstrous $350-million payroll, bettors should expect the Dodgers to keep spending their way to a shot at a third consecutive World Series title. Furthermore, the Dodgers actually have room for improvement in their outfield, which is currently projected to be occupied by the underwhelming trio of Teoscar Hernandez, Tommy Edman, and Andy Pages heading into the offseason. Signing Tucker just makes sense for the Dodgers, much to the dismay of the other clubs around Major League Baseball.
However, if there’s a team that could pry Tucker away from the luxurious Dodgers, it’s the Toronto Blue Jays (+400 odds), who came up just two outs shy of a World Series title in 2025. Toronto has been in pursuit of several top free agents over the past couple of seasons, including Shohei Ohtani, and this could be the year it actually wins a bidding war for a legitimate star. Money isn’t an issue for Blue Jays ownership, and if the team strikes out on re-signing infielder Bo Bichette, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Tucker land north of the border in Canada.
If you’re looking for a dark horse to sign Tucker, look no further than the Texas Rangers (+550 odds for any other team), who have proven in the past they aren’t afraid to spend big by their recent free agent deals with Corey Seager, Marcus Semien, and Jacob deGrom over recent years. Roughly $75 million in salary will be coming off the team’s books by the end of the 2028 season, and its current right fielder, Adolis Garcia, will be a free agent at the conclusion of next season. Garcia is already the subject of trade rumours this offseason, and bringing in Tucker would certainly fill the void and make him expendable to help improve the team in other areas via trade.
