The Toronto Blue Jays will open their 2025 American League Division Series as small betting underdogs against the New York Yankees. Most online sportsbooks have the Blue Jays between +125 and +130 series underdogs, with the Yankees hovering around -150 to win the best-of-five series.
Toronto will have home advantage in the series, which begins on Saturday at Rogers Centre, by virtue of winning the American League East Division via tiebreaker over the Yankees. Both teams had identical 94-68 records during the regular season.
Blue Jays to win ALDS vs. Yankees
The Blue Jays went 8-5 versus the Yankees during the regular season, and the teams played to a 6-6-1 over/under record in those contests. Toronto will have had five days off since the conclusion of the regular season last Sunday when it opens this series with New York, which will allow manager John Schneider to set up his starting pitching rotation exactly how he’d like against the Bronx Bombers with the additional luxury of a totally fresh bullpen.
As of Friday morning, Schneider had not revealed his starting pitching plans for the series, but he is expected to address the media later on Friday. Kevin Gausman is the likely starting pitcher for Game 1, but it’s unclear who might get the ball in Game 2 of this series on Sunday.
There are also major question marks surrounding the potential availability in this series of shortstop Bo Bichette, who is recovering from a left knee sprain. Several reports are suggesting Bichette is a long shot to be included on the ALDS roster, but that will be confirmed in the next 24 hours.
