Maple Leafs vs. Golden Knights Prediction, Picks, And Odds (10/8/26)

Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander (88) reacts after scoring his second goal of the third period against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Scotiabank Arena

Our Maple Leafs vs. Golden Knights prediction for Thursday night is Over 6.5 goals, but we’re keeping this a modest-confidence NHL bet rather than expecting another scoring spree.

The Toronto Maple Leafs visit the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, with puck drop scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Both teams won high-scoring games on Oct. 6: Toronto beat Nashville 5–4 in overtime, while Vegas defeated Seattle 6–2.

Maple Leafs vs. Golden Knights Prediction

Over 6.5 goals (-110)

Vegas supplies the stronger offensive foundation for a bet that needs at least seven goals. The Golden Knights are 3–1 with 17 goals scored and 10 allowed through four regular-season games. Toronto is 2–2 with 11 goals for and 11 against through four, leaving the Leafs with a more modest scoring start despite Tuesday’s breakout.

Toronto’s earlier 2–1 win over the Islanders and 3–2 loss to Ottawa are the clearest counterargument. Those games finished well below this total, and backing the Over requires more than assuming both teams will repeat their latest performances.

Four games per team do not establish a dependable scoring trend. The expected starting goalies also remain unconfirmed, so we’re not treating the matchup in net as settled. We’ll take Over 6.5 at the listed price with modest confidence, but would pass rather than chase substantially shorter odds.

Betting Toronto Maple Leafs

Toronto generated 37 shots on goal and allowed 25 against Nashville. That attacking volume gives the Over case more substance than the final score alone: the Leafs created plenty of opportunities rather than simply finding five goals on a quiet night.

Sportsnet’s early-season assessment praised Toronto’s forward firepower and forechecking, but warned that its prospects depended on the defence holding up. The analysis described the back end as shakier than desired and argued that Toronto needed another defenceman capable of handling significant minutes alongside Raddysh.

That combination makes the Leafs an interesting part of this total. Their attack can contribute goals, while defensive vulnerability offers Vegas another route to chances. Neither is a reason to assume a wide-open game, though, and Toronto’s shot production against Nashville needs to carry over for us to be comfortable with the Over.

Betting Vegas Golden Knights

Vegas registered 28 shots on goal and allowed 27 against Seattle. Scoring six times showed the attack’s upside, but we’re not counting on that kind of return every night.

Tomáš Hertl described how the Golden Knights took control in the Oct. 6 win: “The second half of the first period and second we kind of take over. We played behind, wear them down in their own zone, we make some good looks and score on the power play.”

Sustained offensive-zone pressure and power-play chances helped drive that performance. Jack Eichel also pointed to the man advantage: “Special teams are a big part of it. Power play came up big for us as well.”

Coach Ryan Craig kept the assessment measured. “We’re continuing to build our game,” he said. “I liked the way that we stayed with the game, I liked the way we stuck together. Just a real good victory from Carter (Hart) all the way out.”

Vegas’s ability to keep an opponent defending gives our Over bet upside. The practical question is whether it can sustain that pressure against Toronto; if the Leafs limit repeat chances and power-play opportunities, getting to seven goals becomes a much tougher ask.

  • Hertl has fired two or more shots on goal in eight straight games dating back to last season and is -145 to record over 1.5 SOG.
  • Victor Olafsson has recorded at least one point in all four of Vegas’s games this season and is +140 to extend that run.
  • Auston Matthews has scored in back-to-back games and is +175 to make it three straight contests.
  • Jack Eichel has recorded at least one assist in each of Vegas’s four games to this point, tallying a whopping eight total helpers in that span. He’s -125 to notch an assist.
