UFC Picks for Barboza vs. Chikadze Fight Night

Come late August, MMA fans are going to have quite the lineup ahead for when Edson Barboza and Giga  Chikadze meet up in the Octagon to go to battle. While that’s the main event, we have other UFC picks for Barboza vs. Chikadze Fight Night. This event is going to be one to remember and there’s plenty of bets to be made. Which fighter will end up coming away with a win?

CHIKADZE IS A SLIGHT FAVORITE TO BEAT BARBOZA LATER THIS MONTH

Before these two get ready to exchange blows on Aug. 28, Chikadze is a slight favourite to beat Barboza later this month. Per the Las Vegas sportsbooks, Chikadze has been given 1.83 UFC odds to take down Barbosa in the main event. He’ll have plenty of confidence knowing that he’s favoured, which will surely lead to plenty of people betting on him.

At the same time, Barboza isn’t that much of an underdog, as he’s checking in with 2.02 UFC odds. With things being so close, this means that we could end up seeing this one go the distance. It’d be a bit of a surprise for this one to end in the first round, as the two fighters could very well use the first round to size up their respected opponent.

“It’s a lot like the fight with (Shane) Burgos, it’s the type of fight that makes me excited,” Barboza said in a recent interview previewing his match at the Fight Night. “I’m a real fan, and I know it’s going to be a fun fight. It’s a main event, 25 minutes, and it’s the type of fight that makes me say yes right away. I’m sure it’s going to be a great fight.”

With this being a five-round affair, fans should be ready to see quite the matchup once these two meet. Again, Chikadze is the favourite with his 1.83 odds, but we don’t think Barboza shouldn’t be ignored just because he isn’t the favourite. Matter of fact, we’re going to predict an upset to happen, as Barboza is our pick to be the winner in what should be a brawl to remember.

Sam Alvey and Wellington Turman will be another fight to watch

Elsewhere, Sam Alvey and Wellington Turman will be another fight to watch once this Fight Night arrives. The two middleweights have plenty of experience, with Alvey being around for quite some time. Leading up to his meeting with Turman, Alvey holds a record of 33-15-1. Meanwhile, for Turman, he’s posting a record of 16-5-0 in his career.

Turman is the favourite for this one, as Vegas has given him 1.67 odds. For Alvey, he’s going to have to stun folks, because he’s been presented 2.25 odds. Alvey knows he’s going to have to put together a fight close to perfection if he wants to win. As for Turman, he’s confident that he’ll be able to remind folks of just how powerful he is with the gloves on.

Once this fight does go down, we think that Turman is going to be able to showcase his dominance from start to finish. He’s our pick to come away with a win and do so in convincing fashion. While Turman suffered a loss in his most recent fight against Bruno Silva, he’ll be motivated to get back on track against Alvey. We think he’ll be able to do just that. Do you agree? Sean Brady vs. Kevin Lee fight has been cancelled

In some disappointing news, the Sean Brady vs. Kevin Lee fight has been cancelled for this event. This was all set to be the co-main event, but Brady suffered a foot injury and he’ll no longer be able to meet up with Lee. Everyone was looking forward to this one, as it was previously postponed too. Now, for the second time, these two won’t be dancing.

“I am more than devastated to say my fight is off,” Brady posted in an emotional Instagram message announcing the bout is off. “I know for a fact I put more time into this sport than anyone on this earth and to not be able to fight crushes me. I went from sparring, running, training, feeling unstoppable, etc to not being able to walk in a matter of days.”

At this time, it’s completely up in the air if Lee will be given a different opponent or if he’ll have to wait to get back inside the octagon himself. With so many moving parts, we could see some other fights added to this event in the coming weeks.
