Emily Shields has been involved with many facets of the horse racing industry for over 15 years. She started hotwalking at Santa Anita, learned to groom horses at Churchill Downs and Keeneland, and has worked for both news publications and television to cover the Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup.
Emily has traveled around the world writing about and photographing horse racing, including Canada, England, Ireland, Chile and Brazil. She has owned shares in racehorses, and has trained a retired Thoroughbred for a second career.
