Our Raptors vs. Wizards prediction focuses on a matchup where both teams enter Friday following opening-night victories. The Toronto Raptors head to Capital One Arena to face the Washington Wizards for an NBA regular-season battle tipping off at 7:00 p.m. ET on Oct. 23, 2026.

We’re backing Toronto’s defensive pressure to help cover the spread at the best NBA betting sites, alongside scoring overs for Anthony Davis and Scottie Barnes. With each team having played just one game so far, we’re keeping these recommendations measured rather than overreacting to early numbers.

  • Raptors -6.5
  • Anthony Davis Over 22.5 Points
  • Scottie Barnes Over 18.5 Points

Raptors -6.5 alternate spread

Toronto’s 135–92 win over Chicago on Oct. 21 gives us a reason to lay the points on the road. The Raptors held the Bulls to 92 points and 16 assists, while Kawhi Leonard, Scottie Barnes and Immanuel Quickley each scored 23.

The turnovers show how the Raptors created separation. Toronto forced 27 turnovers, committed only 10, and scored 35 points off Chicago’s giveaways. Bulls coach Tiago Splitter observed that Toronto’s strong, physical defenders angled to create turnovers. Chicago rookie Caleb Wilson described the effect on his drives: “the lanes were so tight ’cause their hands were there,” and “everything was just more congested.”

There’s a clear warning against expecting another runaway, though. Chicago made just 4 of 36 three-point attempts, compared with Toronto’s 10 of 31. We shouldn’t count on that shooting disparity repeating, and Washington is coming off its own 128–116 opening win over Milwaukee.

We’re taking Raptors -6.5 for the full game. Toronto must win by at least seven points; a road trip after one blowout is no guarantee of that margin.

Anthony Davis over 22.5 points

Davis’s scoring projection of 24.15 points puts us on the over at 22.5. The forecast comes with 32.5 projected minutes, enough anticipated court time to make the threshold plausible without assuming he’ll repeat his opener.

Against Milwaukee on Oct. 21, Davis scored 34 points in 33 minutes and 47 seconds. He made 11 of 20 field-goal attempts and went 11-for-14 at the free-throw line. Shot volume and trips to the stripe give this wager two routes to cashing, rather than requiring a particularly hot night from outside.

Toronto presents a tougher obstacle than those numbers alone suggest. Leonard and Barnes defending the wings could make it difficult for Davis to receive the ball in favourable spots. That’s a potential tactical problem, not a confirmed defensive assignment, but it matters for a bet that needs Davis to get his touches.

We’re backing Davis Over 22.5 full-game points. At least 23 points wins the wager. His opener is his only regular-season appearance so far, and Toronto’s defensive pressure is reason enough to keep the stake modest.

Scottie Barnes over 18.5 points

Barnes’s projection lands at 18.95 points, barely above the 18.5 line. We’re leaning over, but the small gap makes this a cautious play rather than a strong scoring call.

His opening shot volume offers the better encouragement. Barnes took 19 field-goal attempts against Chicago, making eight and converting all six free throws to finish with 23 points in 26 minutes and two seconds. Washington allowed 116 points to Milwaukee in its opener, offering some additional encouragement without establishing a defensive trend.

The main risk is how Toronto shares the offence. Leonard and Quickley matched Barnes’s scoring output against the Bulls, and RJ Barrett added 20 points. Barnes doesn’t have to carry the scoring himself, and his projected 33 minutes aren’t a guaranteed allocation.

Our pick is Barnes Over 18.5 full-game points, with 19 or more needed to cash. The opening opportunities support a small bet, but one productive night doesn’t establish his usual scoring level.
