Seattle’s 2-0 home start gives us a reason to lean Seahawks -3 when they host the San Francisco 49ers at Lumen Field on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 4:25 p.m. EDT. It is a conditional play, not an easy favourite to back: Seattle enters this NFL regular-season matchup at 3-1, while unbeaten San Francisco is 4-0 and owns a stronger point differential, +58 compared with the Seahawks’ +32.
Familiarity gives Seattle something to work with in preparation. With Kyle Shanahan still calling plays and Brock Purdy at quarterback for San Francisco, safety Julian Love sees useful carryover from previous meetings. “It definitely informs us,” Love said of the earlier tape. “It’s good to kind of know what we’re building off of.” Knowing the tendencies helps; executing against them is another matter.
As always, compare the available prices at Canadian NFL betting sites before placing a wager on Seattle or San Francisco.
49ers vs. Seahawks Predictions
- Seahawks -3: Seattle’s unbeaten start in two home games and four takeaways against the Chargers last week provide a foundation for the lean, provided the Seahawks clean up their costly penalties. San Francisco’s unbeaten record and superior scoring differential are substantial counterarguments, and relying on another four-turnover performance would be asking too much. The -120 price is also less forgiving than -110. A three-point Seattle win produces a push; the Seahawks need to win by at least four to cover. We would not chase this pick at a worse number.

About the Seahawks (3-1 SU, 2-2 ATS, 2-2 o/u)
Seattle beat the Chargers 30-23 on Oct. 4 despite being outgained 336-306. The defence forced four turnovers after producing none in the preceding 33-31 loss to Washington. Ernest Jones IV and Drake Thomas intercepted passes, and the Seahawks recovered two fumbles. Nick Emmanwori contributed nine tackles, a sack and two quarterback hits while also lining up as an edge rusher.
Rashid Shaheed supplied a different route to points with a 28-yard rushing touchdown. “We’ve had that in for a while, so great call by Brian (Fleury),” head coach Mike Macdonald said. “Thought we blocked it great, then he did the rest.” With Seattle missing two running backs this week, that kind of wrinkle gives the offence another option beyond conventional handoffs.
The win came with a serious discipline problem: 14 penalties for a franchise-record 150 yards, including seven personal fouls. “To have seven personal foul penalties, that is unacceptable at any level, however you slice it,” Macdonald said. “That’s not us, and that’s not going to be how we play football.” Giving Purdy extra chances through penalties would make covering a field-goal spread considerably harder.
Sam Darnold has completed 45 of 69 passes for 560 yards and six touchdowns across three appearances this season. Seattle needs both its offence and defence to sustain drives and get off the field without depending on takeaways to erase mistakes.
About the 49ers (4-0 SU, 3-1 ATS, 2-2 o/u)
San Francisco kept its unbeaten start intact with a 24-14 victory over Denver on Oct. 4, gaining 358 total yards to the Broncos’ 296. Purdy passed for 218 yards and two touchdowns, while Christian McCaffrey added 52 rushing yards, 18 receiving yards and a rushing score.
Through four games, Purdy has completed 79 of 113 passes for 1,007 yards and 11 touchdowns. That production gives the 49ers a credible route to another road victory without needing Seattle to hand them possessions. McCaffrey’s ability to contribute on the ground and through the air also gives San Francisco options when the defence takes away one part of the offence.
Betting Mismatch
The strongest statistical pushback against laying points with Seattle is San Francisco’s scoring profile. The 49ers have scored 122 points and allowed 64 through four games; the Seahawks have scored 105 and conceded 73. San Francisco has been more productive offensively and stingier defensively, although those early-season totals are not adjusted for opponent strength.
If Purdy protects the ball and Seattle keeps extending San Francisco possessions through penalties, the home-field case for Seahawks -3 becomes much thinner.
Key Injuries
Seattle will be without running backs Zach Charbonnet (knee) and Jadarian Price (chest). Price’s injury exit came against Arizona in Week 2, not in last week’s win over the Chargers. Those absences put greater importance on Emanuel Wilson’s workload.
San Francisco is without Kyle Juszczyk (knee), Christian Kirk (calf), Demarcus Robinson (ankle), De’Zhaun Stribling (ankle) and Jake Tonges (knee), thinning its available options around Purdy and McCaffrey.
The official Oct. 8 practice report listed Seattle’s Leonard Williams as a non-participant with an ankle injury and George Holani as limited with a rib injury. San Francisco’s Nick Bosa did not practise with knee and calf injuries, while Mike Evans missed practice with a rib injury after being limited Wednesday. Those practice designations do not rule Williams, Bosa or Evans out for Sunday.
Mykel Williams was limited with a knee injury on both Oct. 7 and Oct. 8. He hoped to be activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list before the game, as described by 49ers Webzone, but that activation was not confirmed.
Weather
The Lumen Field forecast calls for clear skies, a temperature around 15°C, winds near 16 km/h and no precipitation. Those conditions do not provide a compelling reason to favour either side or adjust the total.
Betting Trends
- Seattle is 2-0 at home this season, with a combined 43-33 score in those wins. Two games are a modest basis for backing a home favourite, not a dependable trend.
- San Francisco won its lone road game 27-7. The 49ers have handled their first away test, but one result offers little guidance on the margin here.
- The Seahawks won the Jan. 17, 2026 post-season meeting 41-6 and the Jan. 3, 2026 regular-season meeting 13-3. San Francisco won the Sept. 7, 2025 regular-season matchup 17-13. Those results supply rivalry context rather than proof of another Seattle win or cover.
Player Prop Trends
The following prop prices are listed at bet365 ON and may change.
- Emanuel Wilson over 62.5 rushing yards (-115): Wilson carried 21 times for 81 yards last week and added three catches for 39 yards. That rushing workload, together with Seattle’s backfield absences, makes this an appealing secondary consideration. His season total of 190 rushing yards on 53 carries through four games is a reminder that last week’s output has not been his average, and a reduced workload could leave the over short.
- Deebo Samuel over 32.5 receiving yards (-115): Samuel has 14 catches on 17 targets for 185 yards through four games, with three starts. The threshold is accessible relative to that production, but the target count leaves limited room for missed connections or a game plan built around other options. This is a modest receiving-yardage lean, not a volume-heavy bet.
- Jaxon Smith-Njigba over 89.5 receiving yards (-115): His 32 catches on 42 targets for 481 yards through four games show substantial involvement in Seattle’s passing attack. That supports consideration of the over, though 90 receiving yards remains a demanding threshold. Heavy season production does not make every weekly matchup a comfortable over, particularly if Seattle can control the game on the ground.
- Christian McCaffrey over 4.5 receptions (-155): McCaffrey has 16 catches on 22 targets for 122 receiving yards through four games, alongside 50 carries for 218 rushing yards. His receiving role gives him a route to five catches, but his four-catch average sits below the requirement. At -155, this is a cautious consideration rather than a preferred recommendation; a productive rushing day can still leave the receptions over uncashed.
