One of the most unpredictable divisions in all of football each year, the NFC East is once again poised to be full of drama, bad blood, and high-stakes clashes in 2026. After a down year in the division, which saw only one squad make the postseason, the NFC East hopes to be more competitive this season as each team looks to improve on their 2025 campaign.
In 2025, the Philadelphia Eagles were crowned division champions for the third time in four seasons, as the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, and Washington Commanders all finished with losing records amidst difficult campaigns. With no shortage of potential and upside for all four teams this season, let’s take a deep dive into our expert outlook on each squad, as well as our best bets for the NFC East in 2026.

Most Important Game on the Schedule: After crashing and burning in the postseason, suffering a disappointing home loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Wild Card Round, the Eagles have a lot to prove this year as they look to get back into the Super Bowl conversation. If the Eagles want to be considered legitimate contenders this season, their Week 4 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams will go a long way in proving that they still have Championship potential. The current Super Bowl favourites, the Rams will serve as a terrific early litmus test for the Eagles to see what their ceiling will be in 2026.
Prop to Watch: Primed to continue his fantastic output since joining the Eagles, bank on running back Saquon Barkley to have a stellar year running the football, rushing for Over 1074.5 yards in 2026. Having hit this mark in back-to-back seasons with the Eagles, there are no signs of Barkley or the Eagles dominant rushing attack slowing down this year. Even back in his days as a Giant, when Barkley has stayed healthy, he’s had no trouble eclipsing the 1,000-yard mark, finishing with over 1074.5 yards in each season he’s played 16 games. At even money, you can’t go wrong backing the Eagles star to hit the Over on this rushing yard milestone.
Potential Breakout Player: With former wide receiver A.J. Brown now out of the picture, the Eagles will be in search of a new top dog in the passing attack. While longtime member of the Eagles, DeVonta Smith, is sure to be a featured player in their offence, look for rookie wideout Makai Lemon to have a stellar rookie season for the Birds. Selected 20th overall in the 2026 NFL Draft, Lemon was a star for USC in his Junior year, racking up 1156 receiving yards on 79 receptions, tallying 11 touchdowns to go along with it. While there may be questions around quarterback Jalen Hurts’ ability to get the ball out to his receivers, if he can send the pigskin anywhere in Lemon’s vicinity, he’ll likely come down with it, setting him up for a potential star-making season.
Betting Projection: While many football pundits rightfully have plenty of questions surrounding the play of the Eagles this season, I’m here to tell you to block out the noise and look at the facts. This is a team that’s not far removed from winning a Super Bowl and has finished with double-digit wins in the regular season four years in a row. With the rest of the NFC East still playing catch-up, the Eagles are the clear-cut pick to win the division, and should be viewed as a top contender to win the NFC outright. With a lethal running game and one of the best defences in the NFL, bank on the Eagles to find plenty of success in 2026, and cash those tickets on the Birds this season.

Most Important Game on the Schedule: Looking to make a statement in Week 1, look for the biggest game of the season to come early for the Giants as they take on their divisional rival, the Dallas Cowboys, on primetime for Sunday Night Football. After finishing at the bottom of the NFC East in back-to-back years, look for the G-Men to come out hungry and motivated to prove their franchise is on an upward trajectory, besting the Cowboys at MetLife Stadium and cementing that this isn’t the same Giants team we’ve grown accustomed to.
Prop to Watch: It was a quiet rookie season for Giants linebacker Abdul Carter, but don’t expect to see a repeat in 2026 as the former third overall pick in the NFL Draft lives up to his sky-high potential, racking up Over 7.5 sacks this season. After finishing last season with 4.5 sacks in 17 games played, it was clear that the G-Men weren’t getting the most out of Carter. Moving him from the EDGE to linebacker proved to have its learning curve, one that the Penn State standout began to push through at the tail end of the season, securing 3.5 sacks over his last four games. With improved confidence and comfort both in his position and in the NFL, expect a career year from Carter as he terrorizes quarterbacks, resulting in over 7.5 sacks for a juicy +105 payday this year.
Potential Breakout Player: You don’t often peg a fifth-year player to emerge as a breakout star, but newly acquired tight end Isaiah Likely enters the 2026 season with no shortage of hype around him. After serving as a top-tier backup to Mark Andrews and the Baltimore Ravens for the last four seasons, Likely showcased incredible upside whenever given a bigger role with the team. As the Giants continue to build their offence around young and explosive talents, look for Likely to fit into their lineup seamlessly, setting himself up for a career-best season in his first year with Big Blue.
Betting Projection: Fade the oddsmakers projections of the Giants this season as they shock the football world, finishing with a winning record for the first time since 2022. If not for a myriad of injuries to top players, shaky coaching, and overall inexperience that led to several close losses, the Giants wouldn’t have finished at the bottom of the NFC East last season. Now with John Harbaugh at the helm, expect a new era in New York as the Giants return to being a competitive football team and finish the season with Over 7.5 wins as they jockey for a Wild Card spot in the NFC.

Most Important Game on the Schedule: Nearing the midpoint of the 2026 NFL season, the Cowboys will have the opportunity to prove themselves as a contender in the NFC East as they take on the Eagles in Philadelphia on Monday Night Football. With the eyes of the football world firmly glued to this historic rivalry, this will prove to be a turning point in the Cowboys season for better or worse. If they’re able to get a win over the reigning NFC East champions, this may be the momentum boost that they’ve been searching for for years that helps propel them back into playoff contention.
Prop to Watch: Say what you will about Dak Prescott, but the guy knows how to spin the pigskin. Having racked up 4,000+ passing yards four times in his NFL career, look for the Cowboys quarterback to continue carving up secondaries as he finishes with over 3999.5 passing yards in 2026. The only thing that has kept Prescott back from hitting this mark more often in his career has been injury troubles, but when he’s been healthy, this mark has been no problem for him to hit. In the last four seasons he’s played at least 16 games in, Prescott has smashed this passing yard total, averaging 4,604.75 passing yards across those campaigns. If Prescott can remain healthy, he’ll have no problem blowing the line set by oddsmakers out of the water.
Potential Breakout Player: A no-brainer breakout star for the Cowboys this season will be safety Caleb Downs. Drafted with the 11th overall pick out of Ohio State, Downs has all the fixings to be a top talent at his position in the pros. A solid tackler with elite coverage ability and football IQ, Downs fills a major position of need in the Cowboys lineup, helping turn their mediocre defence around and positioning himself for a potential run at Defensive Rookie of the Year honours this season.
Betting Projection: While the Cowboys have certainly made improvements to their team in the offseason, expect Jerry’s World to remain in football limbo as the Cowboys won’t be a bad team, but they also won’t be a good team. They may not be contenders, but they’ll be a fun squad to watch, sporting a high-octane offence that’s sure to feature in a multitude of high-scoring affairs this season. I project the Cowboys to hover around the .500 mark throughout the regular season, finishing with Under 9.5 total wins as they miss out on the NFL Playoffs for the third year in a row.

Most Important Game on the Schedule: Coming off an incredibly disappointing season in 2025, the Commanders will look to prove that they’re still building in the right direction and are the fastest-developing team in their division as they take on the Giants in a pivotal Week 5 clash. In a game built around pride, this will matter more than just a win or loss in the standings, as the Commanders will want to prove they haven’t been leapfrogged by the Giants in the NFC East pecking order. After appearing to be one of the top up-and-coming teams in 2024, the Commanders will need to win the games they’re expected to to regain any sort of credibility for the future, and this matchup against the Giants will be a key moment in repairing their reputation.
Prop to Watch: Coming off a season-ending dislocated elbow injury last season, look for premier dual-threat quarterback Jayden Daniels to generate offence on the ground as he’s left running for his life throughout the 2026 NFL season. With star offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil out for an extended period of time after suffering torn triceps during training camp, we can expect to see a replay of last year, in which Daniels was sacked 18 times in just nine games played. As he’s forced to exit the pocket and scramble to keep plays alive, bank on Daniels to tally Over 549.5 rushing yards this year.
Potential Breakout Player: Set to play behind proven talents in Terry McLaurin and Stefon Diggs this season, watch out for third-year pro Luke McCaffrey to still be a primary receiving threat in the Commanders offence. The younger brother of superstar running back Christian McCaffrey, Luke has shown similar explosive ability that’s helped turn his big bro into a household name. Before having his season cut short last year, McCaffrey was beginning to break out as he recorded 203 yards and three touchdowns on just 11 total receptions. With big-play potential in spades, expect to see plenty of McCaffrey in the Commanders game plan.
Betting Projection: There’s no doubt that the Commanders made some solid additions to their team this offseason, but their major glaring weaknesses that resulted in a putrid 2025 season are still there. With a terrible offensive line in front of him, don’t expect to see the type of production we witnessed from Jayden Daniels in his rookie year. With no protection, a weak running game, and a lacklustre secondary, the Commanders will be a frustrating watch in 2026, resulting in a last-place finish in the NFC East as wins come at a premium. I’m low enough on the Commanders to confidently tag them as a bottom three team in the entire NFC this season. Fade them at all costs.
