The NBA Teams Traveling the Most in 2026-27
An 82-game NBA schedule doubles as a cross-continent itinerary. Canada Sports Betting measured every regular-season travel leg for all 30 teams, including the Toronto Raptors, to find who covers the most ground, who catches a break, and where the season’s longest single trips land.
The Travel Picture
Four Findings That Define the 2026-27 Schedule
Total projected regular-season mileage sets the ranking, with each team’s longest single road trip and average leg distance adding context. All 30 teams combine for 1,296,056 miles of travel, an average of 43,202 miles per team.
New Orleans Travels Farther Than Anyone
The Pelicans lead the league in projected travel miles, more than 1,500 miles ahead of the second-place Spurs. Their single longest trip, a 4,571.5-mile leg tied to the season’s Paris road swing, is the biggest driver.
San Antonio Logs the Longest Single Trip
The Spurs’ road trip built around the league’s Paris games produces the single longest leg in the entire dataset, a leg that also pushes New Orleans to the No. 1 overall ranking.
The Southwest Leads Every Division
Home to both the No. 1 (New Orleans) and No. 2 (San Antonio) teams in total mileage, the Southwest Division averages more travel per team than any of the league’s other five divisions.
Toronto Gets One of the Lightest Slates
The Raptors project for 35,454 miles of travel, second-fewest in the league ahead of only the Knicks. For Canadian fans, it means fewer cross-continent road trips and a lighter travel burden than almost every other team in 2026-27.

Methodology
How the Travel Ranking Was Calculated
The analysis covers projected regular-season travel for all 30 NBA teams in 2026-27, including two international games in Paris and Mexico City.
Build Each Team’s Travel Schedule
Every scheduled regular-season road game for all 30 teams was mapped to the traveling team’s previous location and the next game’s venue.
Match Venues and Coordinates
Home arenas and their geographic coordinates were matched against each team’s official 2026-27 arena.
Calculate Leg Distance
Straight-line distance between consecutive game locations was calculated for every travel leg on the schedule, including the two international neutral-site games in Paris and Mexico City.
Sum Each Team’s Season Total
All travel legs for a given team were summed to produce that team’s total projected regular-season travel miles.
Rank Teams by Total Miles
Teams are ranked from highest to lowest by their total projected travel miles across the 2026-27 regular season.
What the Mileage Does Not Show
Figures represent straight-line distance estimates between venues. They do not reproduce exact flight paths, charter routing, connections, or a team’s actual travel arrangements.
