Looking to prove the doubters wrong in 2025, the New Orleans Saints and new head coach Kellen Moore are motivated to shock the football world this season.
Last, and also least, the NFC South bottom-feeders, the Carolina Panthers, are desperate to turn things around as they hunt for their first winning season since 2017.

Most Important Game on the Schedule: Set for a primetime clash on Monday Night Football in Week 2 against the Houston Texans, this will be a pivotal game in the Buccaneers’ season. With question marks looming over the overall upside of this squad, this will be their first crack at taking on a Super Bowl contender in 2025. If the Bucs can put forth a strong showing, this will not only provide a major confidence boost down the stretch of the season, but also will prove to the NFL world that they’re once again a dark horse in the NFC.
Prop to Watch: Even at his advanced age, Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans has continued to be among the league’s best. Possessing terrific size and strength that makes him a near impossible cover for any defensive back, Evans has hauled in 1,000+ yards in each of his 11 seasons played, tied with the GOAT, Jerry Rice, for the most consecutive 1,000-yard seasons ever. With a chance to make history as the pinnacle of consistency, hammer Evans to record his 12th straight 1000-yard season at +125 this year.
Potential Breakout Player: A year after the Buccaneers posted the second-worst rushing offence in the NFL, their run game exploded in productivity in 2024, with much of this success being attributed to rookie running back Bucky Irving. A fourth-round pick out of Oregon, Irving took control of the backfield in the second half of the season, rushing for over 100 yards in three of his last six regular season games. Now in full control as the solidified top back, Irving is sure to see an uptick in production and carries throughout the 2025 season, positioning him to blossom into one of the top young backs across the NFL.
Betting Projection: Coming off their fourth straight NFC South championship, the Buccaneers are once again favoured to claim the top spot in their division, but this is not a guarantee. Two-time All-Pro tackle Tristen Wirfs is set to miss at least the first four games of the season with a knee injury. Alongside him on the PUP list is wide receiver Chris Godwin, who is still rehabbing through a torn ACL from last season. As they navigate through these injuries to top players on their squad, this could be a massive setback that could lead to them missing the playoffs outright. Due to uncertainty around their squad’s health and potential production, fade the Buccaneers in 2025 to finish under 9.5 wins, as well as to miss the playoffs at plus money, as we see a new NFC South champ crowned for the first time since 2020.

Key Subtractions: LB Willie Gay Jr., CB Paulson Adebo, WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling, EDGE Payton Turner, FB Adam Prentice
Most Important Game on the Schedule: Looking to finish the season strong, the Saints will have to battle adversity on the road in Week 14 against the top competition within their division when they visit the Buccaneers. This matchup will go a long way in deciding the winner of the NFC South, and will have significant playoff implications. Inter-divisional games are always critical to any team’s success, with this heated matchup being no different.
Prop to Watch: One of the best dual-threat running backs in the NFL, bank on Alvin Kamara to pile up yardage both on the ground and in the passing attack as he records 1,250+ combined rushing & receiving yards this season. A versatile back that excels in all areas of the field, Kamara is the lone dominant force on an otherwise sloppy Saints offence. Coming off a successful individual 2024 season in which he finished with 1,493 total combined rushing/receiving yards, with his output likely to be even greater this season, this plus-money prop bet is a no-brainer.
Potential Breakout Player: Set to make the leap in production after a solid rookie season, look for big things to come from one of the best names in all of football, cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry. After appearing in 15 games for the Saints last season, starting in nine of them, McKinstry made his presence felt immediately as a solid tackler in the secondary, recording at least three tackles in six of the last seven games of the season. McKinstry was no slouch in coverage either, notching three passes defended in the last five games of the year. With his rapid improvement showing no signs of slowing down, expect to see McKinstry become a top performer on the Saints defence, helping keep the air clean as he battles with top receivers on a weekly basis.
Betting Projection: While the oddsmakers and analysts alike generally have nothing but negative things to say about the Saints, I’m going to zag on this take and explain why the Saints are going to be the biggest upset squad of the 2025 season. While the ongoing quarterback battle between Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough continues, don’t let this distract from the fact that the Saints are actually a solidly built team. With a great mix of veterans and young upcoming talent, the Saints are in a great position to turn heads. The biggest area that plays into the Saints’ favour is their standout defence, sporting premier players such as Cameron Jordan, Chase Young, Demario Davis, and Justin Reid. Don’t be afraid, sprinkle some sugar on the Saints to make the playoffs at +850, or even win the NFC South at +1200, as they may be the best team in by far the worst division in the NFC.

Most Important Game on the Schedule: As we enter into a new era of Falcons football, the biggest game of the 2025 season will come in Week 5 when they host the Buffalo Bills. Coming off an early bye week, the Falcons will be well-rested ahead of their clash with an AFC championship contender in the Bills. With this being the first crack at primetime play for quarterback Michael Penix Jr., going head-to-head with reigning league MVP Josh Allen to boot, we will see if pressure can make diamonds. Needing to prove to themselves as well as ownership that this team is moving in the right direction, this will be a pivotal game in their 2025 campaign as all eyes will be on the Dirty Birds.
Prop to Watch: After a sensational season in 2024, look for Falcons running back Bijan Robinson to continue evolving into one of the top rushers in the NFL, as he finishes as the league leader in rushing touchdowns in 2025. Having recorded 14 touchdowns on the ground last year, Robinson has proven that he has elite explosiveness that makes him a scoring threat from anywhere on the field. With this mark being good enough to finish tied for fifth in the league in this regard, only two total scores behind leaders Derrick Henry, Jahmyr Gibbs, and James Cook, Robinson has proven he is among the elite in entering the end zone. Bet on Robinson to capture the touchdown crown at +850 and hit paydirt alongside the Falcons star.
Potential Breakout Player: After being handed the keys to the franchise late last season, all eyes will be on Penix Jr. this season. In three starts last season, Penix Jr. went 1-2, averaging 245.6 passing yards and a 1:1 touchdown/interception ratio. With the butterflies having been calmed now that he’s gotten his feet wet at the pro level, Penix Jr. has been ushered into a great situation to succeed within. Playing behind a tremendous offensive line with several dynamic weapons at his disposal, Penix Jr. has a terrific opportunity to break out as a top passer at the next level this season.
Betting Projection: Set to be competitive within their lowly division, the Falcons have terrific upside, with a mediocre floor. With questions still lingering over the play of Penix Jr., as well as sporting a weak defensive unit, the Falcons are still a season or two away from truly competing for a playoff spot. Look for them to likely finish with over 7.5 wins, but ultimately still missing out on the postseason, as this will be a foundational building block season toward the future for ATL.

Division Odds: +400
Odds to Make Playoffs: Yes (+230) No (-310)
Season Win Total: Over 6.5 (-140) Under 6.5 (+110)
2024 Record: 5-12
Key Additions: DT Tershawn Wharton, P Sam Martin, RB Rico Dowdle, LB Krys Barnes, LB Christian Rozeboom
Key Subtractions: RB Miles Sanders, S Xavier Woods, S Jordan Fuller, LB Shaq Thompson, TE Ian Thomas
Most Important Game on the Schedule: Needing to set the tone for their 2025 season, if the Panthers want to prove that they are finally moving in the right direction, a Week 1 win is going to be critical in setting this precedent. Set to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in a battle between two lowly teams, a win here can set the stage for better things to come in the future. A loss, however, would be a brutal blow as they would be dropping their season opener for the fourth straight year.
Prop to Watch: Set to play behind yet another porous offensive line, with little to no dynamic playmakers to rely on, expect quarterback Bryce Young to struggle once again as he throws 15+ interceptions in 2025. Last season, Young threw nine picks in 12 starts, a pace that was set to exceed his rookie year (10 in 16 starts) had he not been benched from Week 3 to 7. With the Panthers likely to be playing from behind in most of their games, look for Young to have to force the ball downfield often, resulting in an abundance of turnovers as a result. Win big off the lacklustre play of Young this season as you take him to throw 15+ INTs in 2025 at +200 odds.
Potential Breakout Player: A former All-American wide receiver at Arizona, first-round draft pick Tetairoa McMillan is in a great position to establish himself as the receiver of the future for the Panthers. Coming off back-to-back stellar seasons in college, where he hauled in 1,300+ yards in his sophomore and junior year, the speedster from Hawaii could finally become the wideout that the Panthers have been searching for. Providing a legitimate deep threat for Young to target, McMillan could quickly blossom into a dynamic pass-catcher that burns defences routinely.
Betting Projection: Listen, the Panthers are trying to rebuild, I get that, but that doesn’t change the fact that they stink. Having gone without a winning record in seven consecutive seasons, the Panthers are primed to extend this unfortunate streak in 2025. With inconsistent play from Young, a horrid offensive line, and a somehow even worse defence than the one that allowed a league-worst 31.4 points per game against in 2024, there’s simply no hope for the Panthers this year. Fade them at every chance given, hammer the plus money line on under 6.5 wins, and get ready to watch the same old Panthers in 2025.
