Pressure starting to mount for the Blue Bombers
Indeed, after going 5-0 to start the 2019 campaign, Winnipeg has fallen to 5-2 and is now tied with the Stampeders for the best record in the West Division. First place in the standings is now on the line come Thursday night.
According to Sports Interaction (SIA), Winnipeg is still a heavy favorite to take down Calgary, as they are 8.5-point favorites, with 1.95 odds to cover. While the home-field advantage will help Winnipeg, don't expect Calgary to play scared. They have 1.87 odds to cover.
While we think the Blue Bombers will come out victorious, the Stampeders should make this a close game and cover the spread.
Sascatchewan and Montreal ready for a big-time battle
Similar to the Stampeders, the Roughriders are red hot right now, having won their last three games. This week, they'll look to make it four consecutive victories, as they take on the Alouettes.
Montreal is 3-3 on the year and features plenty of offensive weapons. Will it be enough to down Saskatchewan? The Roughriders enter Friday's showdown as 3-point favorites, with 1.95 odds to cover.
Look for Montreal to make this an interesting contest, but Saskatchewan should continue its winning ways and cover the spread in the process.
Eskimos expected to cruise to victory over the Redblacks
With the Edmonton Eskimos getting ready to host the Ottawa Redblacks on Friday, they'll do so as monster favorites.
Edmonton is listed as 9-point favorites against Ottawa, with 1.91 odds to cover. For the Redblacks, despite being huge underdogs, they also have 1.91 odds to cover the spread. Who ends up getting the job done?
The Eskimos are 4-3 on the year, while the Redblacks are 3-4. In the four losses, Ottawa has lost by an average of 15.75 points. This is good news for Edmonton, as we're picking them to cover the big spread.
Hamilton ready to take down the BC Lions
Of all the games this week, no one is a bigger favorite for Week 9 than the Tiger-Cats. Hamilton will take on BC, with the spread set at 11.5 points.
The Tiger-Cats have 1.95 odds, while the Lions have 1.87 odds to cover the 11.5-point spread.
There's no denying it's been a complete dumpster fire of a season for the Lions, who are 1-6 on the year and have lost three straight games.
Unfortunately for them, they're expected to drop another game, with Hamilton also expected to cover the spread to boot.
